Are you really comparing the *'s rule to being asked to remain quiet for a minute before a kick about to remember those who died for your freedom?
    That is absolutely laughable mate.

If any person ruined the silence purely to disrespect the dead then they are not worth talking about and are pure scum.

Gunt, got to agree with your earlier statement. The poppy and the minutes silence is about so much more than * Ireland ! In fact , i'm sure if you asked most soldiers and the public what it stands for, Ireland would probably be one of the last conflicts mentioned by most. The two world wars, Iraq, Afghanistan and the Falklands would probably get mentioned first ! It's these little plastic Republicans from Scotland that want to express their victim, everyone hates us routine time and time again ! Its time they grew up and realised that Celtic is a Scottish football club and not some extension of an Irish Republican movement .

There are 525,600 minutes in a year. Respecting 1 minute of silence, still gives you 525,559 minutes to express your opinion on Britain and its armies.

No, again you are assuming things which aren't correct.

I've said my piece, I'm not really interested in dragging it out again.

Why do people continuously say that the players didn't want to wear a poppy. It's bullshit.

I agree. You have the right to do a lot of things as long as they stay within the law but there are still things you should and shouldnt do if you are a decent person. A decent person is one who thinks of others rather than playing the victim and venting and grandstanding about the same usual old tired stuff while disrespecting a commemoration of a couple of million dead. They have the right but chosing to exercise it reveals their true natures and its not pretty.

some people get carried away with their sentiments and personal feelings and political opinions and judge over people they don't know and ask for ridiculous punishments.

were the so called "judges" even at the game and did they hear and see the incidents or did they just hear and read about what happened? it certainly matters if it was in or outside the stadium.

I can't stand that permanent generalization and judgement over celtic supporters from people that don't actually seem to been there.

Have you read through the thread? I myself would not ruin the silence and I myself would never disrepect the dead soldiers that fought for our basic freedoms.

If today at Falkirks stadium was not the day to protest then today was not the day to force people to do something they have no intention of doing.

There are 525,600 minutes in a year and you are forced to do something against your will for one minute but that's ok because there are 525,559 minutes to do what you want. It doesn't work like that I'm afraid.

I don't think it is (obviously.)

The minutes silence was requested inside the stadium. The minutes silence was obeyed inside the stadium.

People have a right to protest. That's just plain fact. They chose to protest in a place that did not have any minutes silence imposed.

That's not splitting hairs, it's simply fact. Rules were drawn on what was expected. Frequently in these matters, these rules are not adhered to. Today they were and I am thankful of that.

For the record, I would abhor anyone who broke this rule today. Albeit some might claim they have political beleifs, I would tend to classify them pretty much as you do.

But, again, that rule wasn't broken. People are very keen to jump on these types when they break the rules/cross the line, so I think it's very important to prasie those same people when those very clear lines have not been broken.

Once again, I say congratulations to the Celtic support today. Just need to sort out those * impostors ON the pitch now. :shamrock:

One side had it's minute silence, the other had it's protest, it's done.

Now, I want to have a minute silence on the 30th November for George Best at Celtic Park, considering he had as much to do with Celtic as the Poppy does, we all on board?

The silence is held because Britain as a country believes in it, if you don't like it that much then maybe you should look for another country to live where you are not "forced" to keep your mouth closed for 60 seconds of every year.

Thing is iwhether it was in or out doesnt really matter. They knew if they are immediately outside the gates of a silent stadium they would disrupt it. Just how loud it was seems to be made clear by Peter Lawell shaking his head in shame at them. Another thing is silence at 11 is the norm everywhere in GB. Most people observe it and also again on the 11am 11th November. Even traffic stops in some busy areas. To distrupt is simply a tiny minority stamping over the wishes of the huge majority. Not much respect for basic democracy there if a tiny minority can veto a silence wanted by the vast majority.
