An absolute no brainer. Yes a million times. 20 goals and 15 assists a season strikers don't grow on trees.

Johnny Russell better than Stokes :56:

Obviously he should be offered a new deal.
I can be quite critical of stokes, but mainly because I think there's more to come from him and I know that we'll see it In a Celtic shirt.
20 goals and the amount of assists he produces is enough for a new deal.
And as has been mentioned he has looked quite sharp considering the length of time he's been out for.
He's a good player who will get better, he loves the club, and I think I would be right in saying most of the cans love him too

Definitely! He is a tremendous player on his day and hopefully will become more consistent in light of his recent return to the first team and recovery from his long-term injury.

certainly give him a new contract he can hold the ball up set up others as well as knowing were the goals are, sure he has had some bad publicity lately but do you want to let him go on a free or give him a contract and make some money if we decide he is surplus to requirement.

Thats an easy yes for me. Stokes has scored goals and played a big part in the last 2 seasons and when he was missing with injury during the first half of this season I really felt we missed his creativity and ability on the ball as well as his goals. Very important player for us so I really hope he signs a new deal.

Yes but if we could get 4-5 Million for him in the summer I would sell.

We want hooper to sign a new contract and stokes is nearly as important so we should be getting him signed as well.

So get rid of him for nothing, a guy who has a good goalscoring record with us, and is still the 2nd best striker at the club, will score you 20 odd goals a season, just because he apparently is not good enough to do a job in the champions league, EVEN when he has never been given a chance to prove himself? Ok then. :50:

Who would you bring in to replace him, just out of interest?

We'll not be getting bids anywhere near that for Stokes anytime soon.

    That's football manager fantasy stuff.

    The main two questions here are;

    A) Would he be happy to only play the SPL matches?
    B) Will we show real ambition and buy in a great striker in the Summer?

Yes, a vital player for us when fit. He scores plenty, is creative, provides assists and has good technique. Letting his contract run down and then having him leave for nothing would be incredibly bad business practice.

You assume he will only ever play in SPL?

We need to offload strikers first before we can bring in any "great" strikers - we have to get rid of Miku and Bangura first off.

Not so easy to get shot of Bangura though. Hopefully Murphy doesn't have any other seasons in his contract though.

As for Miku, I think once he settles will be a capable player.

I can tell from watching Stokes' ability that he's not good enough for the CL. Watt's got a chance though with his pace and strength. Still very raw of course.

Let's just say, it wouldn't break my heart to let him leave in the Summer. I'd look back on him as a decent striker who banged in loads of SPL goals.

Bangura is a wanted man in Sweden - someone will buy him back.

Murphy I'm sure was sold there?

Miku will not be here after his loan deal ends.

I'm sorry, but you cannot tell anything about Stokes, let alone judge his capabilities for CL. You do not like him as a player, the Celtic management clearly do or he would not be anywhere near the first team.
