Ah well, we can't be too disappointed with this. We never made a formal offer for him as far as I know, so it's no surprise he didn't want to wait around.

Good luck Shay, you'll always be one of us :50:

We never had a bid accepted, we'll never know if he would have accepted less money and snubbed Villa for us. The insults, just because he's signed for another EPL club are wide of the mark.

I actually thought he would come - his wife is from Cumbernauld. I'm sure he'd have no problem finding a nice semi-detached in Abronhill...

Good for Ireland that him and Dunne will play in the same side.
I was fantising about them both playing in green and white not too long ago

That is pathetic. Celtic never even put in a bid for him. He said he wanted to come here, but what's he going to do? Pay the 4 mill transfer fee himself? Get a grip.

Some people need to seriously wise the * up.

Celtic never bid for him so how could he have come here?

Calling someone a * or a money grabbing * because they are taking the best offer financially so they can support their families when they aren't playing anymore. Aye sounds like a textbook *.

Would have loved to have seen Given as Celtic's #1 this season but not to be. I think he would have been perfect for us with all his experience helping our young players. But not to be sadly. Good luck to him at Villa.

Are you seriously suggesting that if one of these multi-millionnaires were to accept two million pounds a year instead of the four million a year they're currently getting, they'd be risking their families falling into penury? The workhouse beckons?

Perhaps as a result of the fact that footballers, when they turn 33, collapse physically and get placed on a life support device, so they're unable to do any sort of meaningful work for the rest of their lives?

Do us a favour. These guys get paid obscene, immoral amounts of money. At 80K a week, a single year's wages alone would be enough to support your family for the rest of your - and their - lives.
