think we need to focus on the weaker european leagues like the Belgian, Croatian, Austrian etc in search of a big lump of a striker who can head the ball etc, we cant afford to get into a bidding war with premiership clubs, actually think targets like Bellamey and Keane are more realistic than Long.

I'm * * off with these stupid * who don't care about trophies anymore in football, but only the money.

Football is supposed to be all about winning trophies and the majority of the players now don't care about it, all they want is the * money, it * me the * off.

You're guarunteed to win trophies here, and they can play a part of it, but instead they pick the club which offers the most money.

Especially hate it when mid-table and bottom half EPL and Championship clubs slag our league, well so *, we win trophies and we know how it feels to win trophies, SPL might not be the best trophy in the world but at least its a * league, if he wants to go to some mid table EPL club for money, then * him.

We've not won the title in 3 years. Perhaps we over emphasise the winning of trophies. There is no gurantee.....maybe a SC or CIS if you dont win the league...thats doesnt excite any player.

Aye, since 2000 we've won 6 League trophies, and Rangers have won 5.

Celtic have won 4 Scottish Cups and 3 CIS cups.

So we've won 13 trophies in the past 11 years, any player coming to Celtic would expect to win trophies coming to our club.

Yeah...but none in the last 3 seasons when Rangers have been at their most vulnerable i'd say....in that respect we have no helped ourselves attracting players. The title and entry to the CL are the only things that count with big players. Other domestic baubles are a minor bonus.

Sorry but time for you and most of our fans to wake up players go there because they are playing in one of the best leagues in the world .

V Man utd , Chelsea ,Man city ,Arsenal ,Lpool ,Spurs .

Compare that to Rangers ,Hearts ,Hibs ,etc

We might have been able to offer Champs league footy in the past but now that is no longer a carrot as we can not say for sure we will be in it.

We might be able to lure them if they have a interest in the club or are Celtic fans but Long was a Leeds fan not Celtic.

The stature of opposition should not outweigh the stature of club you potentially sign for!

No it shouldn't but combine that with the stature of the league then players get put off, the name of celtic can only go so far for players, some see the spl as a steeping stone to the epl but why would someone come to the spl when they don't need it as a stepping stone when a prem league club is already in for them.

This seems to be the case for long.

I've never understood the mindset of someone who signs for a bottom PL side and says "I'll be playing against teams like Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal"... aye, and you'll be getting shagged in every one of those games. I'd rather play for a big club and win titles than play for a small club against big clubs and win * all.
