    I think you're being overly dramatic. He's a good striker who we might not otherwise have a chance of signing were it not for the Irish connection. In our current financial position, we have to make use of every advantage we have when trying to bring in decent players, which I am led to believe Long is.

    Ridiculous comment. Nothing to do with him being Irish. If we were so blinded by Irish players we'd have more than one playing for us. Stokes is one of our top scorers and Long makes regular appearances for Ireland over him. IMO Long is better than any of our current strikers as can be seen by the attention he's getting from the Premiership. Don't think they give a * if he's Irish.

    Mate we have loads of Irish players. Odea,McCourt,mcginn,murphy,stokes etc.

    But I dont believe thats the reason we are linked to him. He is out of contract in a year so that helps. He is good in the air,just what we need.

    Lenny had an interest in him in jan,and lenny knows signing quality players in the championship,can more that cut it in the spl. Ie ledley and hooper. Which none of which are Irish

    Two are Northern Irish, O'dea is out on loan and I forgot about Murphy but he's hardly a regular. In the context of our whole squad, we do not have a lot of Irish players.

    we're going to have to spend a good amount of money on someone to get goals i think in the summer no matter what but we have our limits. is Long worth more than £4m? imo no. good player but some on here claiming he will be first choice is a bit premature.

    hoped Lennon looked at McGugan. would be great cover for Kayal and is on a free. hope Notts Forest and Reading stay down simply because Long and McGugan will be available.
