I'm with you Jeannie. Was very much tongue in cheek.

Technically limited, but he got a lot of folk excited on account of just being a catholic from Derry. We're approaching poppy season, maybe that was on his mind today.

If he cuts out the Beckenbauer *, he does what he does, puts his head anywhere.

    Really like him.

Said it at the time but for the money this donkey is/has cost us we could surely have got a no * about CB from europe/ somewhere who might have had some pace at least, but heyho he has got to tick a box on his 'to do list' now and played for Celtic.

Poor today but would agree with @James, our current set-up doesn't see him in the best light.

    Same with Taylor, Forrest, Ely...

4-2-3-1 would see his qualities become more effective. He definitely needs to cut out scudding the ball long all the time though. I dare say that's somewhat forced when there's little from midfield, showing for the ball.

Now we have 4 strikers on the books though, I can see the 3-5-2 being persevered with though.

Hand on heart, I would prefer Bitton over him all day. For me on the evidence so far he's the weakest of the 4 and that's before you count El hamed at CB. Bitton gives you calmness, passing ability and is growing into a right decent CB. Duffy is erratic and couldn't pass to a team mate in a phone box.

I don’t think there can be any real argument that Bitton isn’t the better of the two for us.

I get that he’s been stuck with a bit of a utility player tag, but the reality is he’s been unbelievably consistent at centre half for a while now. He brings a calmness to the back line and is no pushover physically.

We all knew what type of defender Duffy is. He is ur old type Tony Adams. If he needs to play like a modern day defender then I'm sorry he aint that player. Manager needs to play a system that suits our players strengths.

It’s all been said already, dropping deep for that first goal is a horrendous error for someone of his experience. You could have maybe excused Welsh a young boy for doing that but not Duffy. He holds his line we defend the set play well.

The passing was a joke but we didn’t sign Duffy to be a ball playing CB they should move the ball to Your midfield and they should do something with it rather than square and back. When we have Ajer, Bitton, Elhamed and even Julien to a lesser extent who are all capable on the ball then his strengths can help but he had a shocker yesterday.

The second he makes a good block but the issue for me is there is three defenders in position with one man to pick up and none of them attack the ball, symbolic of our performance yesterday. The same happened in the other box with one of our few good attacking moves, McGregor destroys Tavernier and puts a great ball on Ely is beaten to the ball by Helander who is as slow as they come.

I wasn't familiar with Duffy as a player before he joined us so can only form an opinion on what I've seen so far. I won't judge on the poor passing as he is a CB and first and foremost is here to defend. The problem is he doesn't seem to be a particularly good defender.

Since joining he has had more than a few sloppy moments he continually gets caught on his heels and his defensive discipline is poor in the inability to hold the line properly. He is the worst of all the senior cb options we have including Bitton and elhamed and was the worst defender yesterday in a defence that included a young guy who had previously played one game for us.

A perfect illustration of how overhyped the game in England is that such an average player can earn the type of money reputed and was still supposedly attracting interest from other PL clubs.

I'd cut the loan short, if possible, in the next window and try to spend decent money on another CB that's not come from the overhyped, overpriced English Market.

Expected a lot more from someone that is a captain and has experience in the EPL. He was for too overrated by some sections of the support, great in the air and being strong, that’s about it.

Anything over a 10 yard pass he struggles with, not mobile and gets caught out with balls over the top. He is not the answer to our defensive issues. Welsh who only played his 2nd game for us looked a lot more solid.

Rotten yesterday. No instagram apology will make up for that.

He doesn’t fit into 3-5-2 so either drop him or change the system. I’d rather change the system to be honest. 3-5-2 was great for 3 months but it doesn’t suit too many players now.
