Let's hope Duffy isn't one of the close contacts [IMG]

Looks like it's Egan Robinson odowda and Browne that are the close contacts, they haven't named the confirmed case but apparently it was a player who didn't feature against Slovakia so for the moment it looks like Duffy is ok

Ye and to think it was a false positive test that ruled out Connolly and idah for a game we were the better team but just couldn't score and then lost on penalties.

I find it strange how not one of these players who are positive actually get any symptoms at all, not even a common cold sniffle. I smell * with the validity of this test.

Does that mean she had it though? Or the test is *?

Think what we are starting to see is a very high percentage of cases that are asymptomatic possibly with higher incidence of false positives than expected.

You can have a virus in your system and be contagious without displaying symptoms. Obviously there are false positives but without more testing youd never know and you just have to treat it like a positive.

We get tested weekly in work and some people have been asymptomatic after a positive test, and it matched with an NHS test.

.... so what prompted the test to find out?

The only international football that should have been played on Europe the past week is qualifiers for euros and u21 qualifiers. Nations league is not required in current climate.. Duffy for example with be in 4 countries in 8 days (scotkand-ireland- slovakia-ireland-finland-scotland), it's madness

Not saying she never, but I find it strange how a weak common cold can atleast produce a sniffle, yet a killer virus can produce nothing in so many and only a test can prove they have it. I'm no scientist, and naturally sceptic as * but for so many of our squad to get it and everyone of them not get symptoms strange.

Sure if 4 got tested and a couple showed a stuffy nose and the other 2 never. Fine. However this many and not one show a symptom screams dodgy test to me.

Aye I get that, but my point was more say 4 or 5 of our squad all tested positive. Yet not one of those members displayed a symptom, just doesnt add it. Theres odds and then theres winning the lottery.

A stuffy nose isn't a symptom and these are professional athletes in their 20s so are much more likely to have lesser symptoms, also where does it say that these positive cases don't have any symptoms and are truly asymptomatic, before covid most people would have colds etc with symptoms that would simply be ignored and they would get on with their lives .. it's widely accepted that the vast majority 80%+ show mild or no disease, think with widespread blood testing that percentage may be even lot higher than 80%
