If Brighton want 2 million for a years loan, do you recon that the board will just pay out and sign him or add a buyout clause to the deal? Not sure of his valuation but 2 mil is a fair whack on a loan player imo.

Get Duffy and a quality LWB in and never mind ten in a row, we’ll be competing for the champions league :36::56:

Are we seriously accepting PTT and "my friends cousin is friends with Shane's cousin and they drink in the Bogside Inn together" ?

I'll wait on something more concrete tbh

My unfounded optimist is pushing my cynical sceptic to the side, Duffy to the Hoops, it's happening!

This is really happening hopefully , loan with the option to buy, that would allow another year off his contract and cover his wages for next year. If they want 2 mill fine but that would have to be taken off the fee when we are buying him. Would be a fantastic addition.

Not to be "overly naive" ...

But Derry is a city in name only. Place is * tiny. Word will travel.

And we (well I did anyway) heard all the same noises coming out of the north of Ireland before we wrangled ourselves a snake.

I'm much more inclined to be hopeful when the noises come from comparatively small places via wordrword oftof mouth rather than Joe bloggs on twitter who claims he has "sources" etc.

Hello all! My first post so be gentle with me! As a Brighton fan I thought I’d give you a heads-up about Big Shane. Well, he’s BIG - in size, in heart, in commitment and just about everything else. If you get him you’ll get a bloke who will give 100% all the time. Maybe not the most skilful or quick but he will defend to the death with his “they shall not pass” attitude. We love him down here unfortunately I don’t think he fits into Graham Potter’s style of play, hence the potential move.

If he comes to you you’ll love him. He has his own song “ Ain’t nobody, like Shane Duffy, makes me happy . . . etc”.

Well I hope you get him, I believe he’s a big Celtic fan so a good match up there. Just be aware West Brom are sniffing around. Best of luck to you and Big Shane.

P.S. Have you done your Ten in a Row yet? Good tune!

It’s not complicated in the SPL
The defenders who have had the biggest impact, made the difference, been successful are the big strong solid guys
This league is not the place for lightweight CBs that want to play football at the back

Shane Duffy would be the most important signing for years
Has every single quality we need

also the reason we don’t rest Brown as much is if you take him out of the side there is no real vocal leader on the pitch
Having Duffy would also mean we can rest brown

Really do hope we get this guy in.

As echo'd previously, he's exactly the type pf player we need. I think he would improve Julien's physical side of his game too.

Not sure if this guy is talking * or not, but if you want to believe him, Duffy is still 4/1 to sign for WBA on skybet.

I think/hope some are just putting 2 and 2 together here thinking that Celtic are penny pinching.

Hope it’s not another McGinn mk2 situation

Get it done Celtic. With an option to buy next season pls.

In the year of the 10 the board shouldn't be penny pinching when it comes to a deal like this. The transfer strategy is all well and good but sometimes you just need to spend because you know the player 100% improves an area of the team regardless of age, sell on value etc.. duffy could be the difference between winning the league or not. If lenny wants 3-5-2 and lenny wants duffy in then back the gaffer and get it done pete:celt_2:

Apparently on £40K per week, no chance we are going to pay that, maybe half at a push. For that reason I doubt we’ll get him in on loan unless we’re willing to buy him and he’s happy to take a pay cut.
