Don’t see how £1million would be an obstacle.

Been really hopeful here but if we paid £1 million up front hopefully we would have an option to buy next season which the million could be offset against.

No brainer for me. Even if we are paying £1 million and half his wages just for this season it’s a no brainer. Would be a quality addition and exactly the type of defender we are needing. Hope we could get him on a permanent though but don’t know what Brighton would be looking for. Duffy could just refuse any other move to force it through :84:

We can’t afford him this season, but and it’s a rather large BUT, if Eddy stays for the 10, then goes we will have money from the transfer and hopefully we also make the CL this season. Then next season looks completely different from a financial point of view.

I'm actually afraid to check the updates on this for fear of reading its not happening. As things stand it could be in the pipeline and for me ignorance is bliss. If he does sign I'll be * ecstatic.

I'm starting to really believe we'll get him now..

Thought it was just pish rumours but you get the feeling that he's maybe pushing this behind the scenes and that could be the telling factor..

At 28 he'd be some signing for us back there. Peak year's, experienced at a high level and an international..

Seen rumours that apparently a Brighton mod a few week's ago said Duffy to us..

Hope we get him in and Douglas at left back to challenge Taylor and Ajer. Love a Celtic side with a strong Scots Irish spine. They know what they are fighting for.

This is pretty much where I'm at with it. I'm Irish so I'm ultimately happy once he goes somewhere that he'll play regularly (for the sake of the national team) but I'd absolutely love him at Celtic. Think he'd be head and shoulders above any other defender in this league.

seeing him at a family bbq this weekend, will ask. nah but in seriousness, this guys no world class by any means but would defo do a job for us, type of defender we've missed, closest to being like him would be Boyata, and i think Shane is a bit of a step up.

Brighton will demand a £2m loan fee from Celtic in any deal to take Shane Duffy to Parkhead - according to a report.

The 28-year-old is wanted man with a clutch of clubs circling around the Republic of Ireland central defender.

Duffy's time on the south coast appears to nearing the end with Graham Potter investing in his backline this summer with a deal for Ajax's Joël Veltman.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon is understood to be a major admirer of the former Blackburn defender but West Brom, West Ham and Burnley are also in the mix.

But the Daily Mail report Duffy is keen to make the switch to his boyhood heroes despite serious interest from the English trio.

Duffy has made 130 appearances for the Seagulls and has been lauded for his goal threat from set-plays.

Celtic starting pair Chris Jullien and Kris Ajer were integral to the Hoops last season but Lennon has been looking to strengthen defensively after back-up Jozo Simunonvic left at the end of last season.

There's also been fervent speculation over Ajer's future with Serie A big-hitters Milan believed to be keen on the Norway international.

If they want a 2million loan fee with then it should come with a low option to purchase for around 4million at end of season, would suit both sides i think , 6million total for a premier league defender is fair and also its a fair price to brighton if hes not in there plans

Hopefully no one, but it definitely opens up the 3-5-2 option which seems the likely outcome with Ajeti now onboard

Would like to see three at the back, but in a straight choice between Julien and Ajer there’s no question for me.

I know Julien was very suspect for the Killie goal, but overall I think he’s been excellent since he signed here. Ajer has been relatively poor over the same period.

Think they could both be a lot better with a guy like Duffy beside them through.

We (no one) ever sticks to a hypothetical ‘best 11’. It means nothing, particularly this season.

So no one will be dropped, whether we stick to 2 centre halves or move to 3.

    Ajer, easy decision.

If it happens, Elhamed Julien Duffy would be the 3 strongest when fit. Ajer is a solid back up. He’s simply not good enough as a first choice centre back if we are to progress as a team imo.
