Regardless, there's still Maloney and Forrest to account for.

I think they are better players than Ki. If you want to look a good prospect then James Forrest, who came through our youth system is it.

    He is 19 btw.

ki is a great player, his passing is, from what i've seen, usually precise, and he's not afraid to have a go at goal, even from 30/35 yards out.

just waiting for him to do what naka did against the huns for his first old firm goal. is that out of his capabilities? i don't think so.

also, this goal, which shows quite what he's capable of. sorry for the music. :celt_2:

If we're talking about him as a goal scoring threat here's his record, again from Wiki so I don't know if it's spot on

He's not a center mid though.

Like I said, if it were a choice I would play Scott in the middle and James Forrest wide right rather than put Ki on.

There's a difference between a creative centre midfielder and Brown. Brown can't just come in there. And Forrest can't spray passes around.

Id like to see him get a good uniterrupted run at the first team because i think a lot of the judgement and criticism is unfair. I think a lot of the fans fail to realise that Ki moved continents and cultures as a young man.. that is an extremely difficult thing to do in any line of work. He has been in and out of the team and anyone in this forum who plays knows that to be shuffled in and out of a team with different players around you each time is tough to do. Especially when you have to travel so far around the world mid season. He was there in the mowbray era when we had many players like fortune, fox, ngumeo who many disputed were flops playing alongside him. He weathered that storm- when a lot of players were * poor- and is still here pluggin away. He isnt a wee bratt complaining and desperate for the money. He isnt a disruptive influence in terms of behaviour. He gets on with it and seems to be well liked amoungst the players. He has shown he has talent. I think he deserves more credit.

Izzy came from Honduras, Beram came from Israel, Hoopy came from Scunthorpe.

I don't think Ki is a creative midfield player either though. Just because that's what he wants to be and how some people describe him doesn't make it the case. As someone pointed out we drew 3 games in December when Scott Brown wasn't playing, we have lost 1 and drawn 1 when he has been playing. I know which one I would rather have in my team, whether it's central midfield or wider right.

I think these comparisons are really unfair, Izzy and Kayal are special players and Hooper coming from Scunthorpe a'int exactly a long way to come, anyway thats not the point you are expecting Ki to be the standard of these players mentioned which is so unfair on him because as I said they are special players and could fit in a premier league team easily, and Ki probably not, just now. NOBODY has said that he deserves a first team start, MOST people are saying that he does have talent and is a good player to have in the team.

Surely to * people realise that "Hoopy came from Scunthorpe" was a joke.

Fair do's, you think Ki is a good player to have in the team. What is your midfield in that team. I posted mine, here it is again

    Commons, Ledley, Kayal, Brown.

I'm assuming you are playing him in midfield obviously. So what's your midfield.

    ah right :56:

Totally agree with that midfield mate, that it definitely our strongest midfield. I think most people are saying that he is a good option to have and can only get better with the correct coaching (toughen him up a bit). - thats what I think he does lack (strength) and gets shoved off the ball to easy but that can be worked on :50:

Ki may be a CM by definition, but in reality he is not a CM, because he can't handle that position. We used to have the same argument suggested by posters with Naka, and he couldn't handle the CM position either successfully, especially in physical games. Some would suggest that we play Ki just behind the front strike force as a kingmaker, but as with Naka, the same with Ki, I have my doubts on the wisdom of that either.

Ki is a * genius Player but he must play more in a offensive role then players like brown or kayal.

My problem is that people describe Ki as our best player earlier in the season, or as being awesome, or as being a great prospect. However at the same time they don't think he is good enough to get into our first team. He cost us just over £2m. Kayal, Commons and Ledley, 3 players you accept get in before him, cost a bit less than that, in total.

I just think that, if he is not good enough to seriously compete for the first team spot, and I don't think he is, then we would be better looking elsewhere. If we can get a few million for him then that's money we can and will invest elsewhere.

And I agree with those who said Ki was our best player from November-December, Kayal was out injured, Ledley people described as a 'ghost on the park', we had no Commons, Brown was injured/suspended, so yes he was our best player. Since then he has had a few suspect games, however I do still think he has a lot more to give and if we let him go in a few years time we WILL regret it!

If we can get our money back on Ki I will be well pleased because I think it has been a failed experiment. I see Ki as our eighth choice for our midfield, and I reckon Maloney can play that role better anyway. I think we should sign a more combative central midfielder as we are short on them, to cover for Brown or Kayal getting either injured or suspended again, which is highly likely given their combative natures.. I have someone in mind, but he probably wouldn't go down too well with some on here.

Just say Kevin Thompson, it's clear that's who you mean.
