Probably not the end of the world if we do end up in Pot 4 really. Means we avoid the likes of Dortmund, Malaga and Montpellier who are as good as, if not better than a lot of Pot 3 teams.

Obviously there's plenty of good teams in Pot 3 as well, but it's the luck of the draw on the day. Could end up in Pot 3 and get a horror draw, or we could end up in Pot 4 and get an alright one. Swings and roundabouts.

Along with Juventus and PSG, I'd like to avoid this particular team that have thrashed us recently but I think we'll get Ajax if we get through tonight.

Montpellier are not the same side that won the league last season, their fairytale seems as good as over and they have 1 point from their first 3 league games. Malaga did look decent in the qualifiers but they've had some financing issues this summer and are essentially selling everyone they can, I wouldn't fancy us against them, but I don't think many pot 3 teams will be worried about them. Dortmund are fantastic but so I'm glad we're not playing them. I think clubs in higher pots will look to them and ourselves as the two clubs best avoided.

As you say, it's swings and roundabouts, every group has considerable strength, and there's not really an ideal "easy group". Then again if there was, it wouldn't be the Champions League.

Barca, Man City and Juve would be the toughest we could get. Juventus would be a much harder game than PSG at the moment.
This could be a very strange group stage if we get a group like that, we would just be hoping for a point on the board. That could be six 3-0 defeats easy.

But honestly, i don't care if we don't win a group game, because at least we're there!!

Right Bhoys, beggars can't be choosers and if we do the biz tonight, we're in the Champions League :icon_mrgreen:
That's what we all wanted, anything else is a bonus.

Just noticed there is a possibilty of Real Madrid, Man City, Juventus and Dortmund being drawn in the one group. All are champions of their major leagues Spain, England, Italy and Germany.

Has this ever actually happened before? I don't think it has? What a group that would be!

Glad theres a good chance i'll have to record some of these cracking games this year!

We can't get Porto and braga, they're both Portuguese.

Because two teams advance from each group, I think our best chance might be a good Pot 1 team, to take points off the others, and two smaller ones from 2 and 3. I feel we do relatively well against big-name teams, for example Man U or AC, and would not mind one at all.

We've also done fairly well against Russian teams in recent seasons.

    I'd go for:

    Man U / Braga / Spartak
    or
    Milan / Zenit / Copenhagen

I have a feeling we might get Ajax too. Would be delighted with that.

Barca, Braga and PSG are a good combination. Unaccustomed to the brutal beating Wanyama, Brown and Kayal can dish out, the highly-paid prima-donnas in Barca and PSG will crumble. Similar things will happen to Braga.

easiest draw or the the biggest names?

Would you prefer the 3 easiest teams (I know they are all good) or 3 huge glamour games?
