We need to start buying more foreign based players. Have enough scots and SPL based signings for now.

And let a James McCarthy, Steven Fletcher or Andy Robertson slip from our grasp again, no thanks. If we spot a gem, from here, i'd go all out for them..

    I'm being serious though.

There genuinely isn't a guy playing for Hamilton by the name of Scott McLean:56:

    If we fielded this team:

    Gordon
    Fisher VVD Mulgrew Izzy
    Brown Allan
    Forrest Armstrong GMS
    Griffiths

Thats a strong Scottish team(9/11). We lose three of our better players in Lustig, Johansen and Biton but their replacements ain't bad at all. Very capable at an SPL level. Not strong enough for europe but wouldn't be terrified (perhaps minus Charlie Lifeislikeaboxofchocolates Mulgrew at the back).

We've been heavily criticised over the years for hurting the national side's chances but now we're blooding and developing a lot of Scottish talent. Paves the way for our youth too - shows if they can come up to the level, they'll get a chance. Fair enough we just signed Allen, but its better that someone from a * spanish or german side. If our kids work hard, show the goods, then they'll be used. Maybe not up at the level we need yet, but give it a few years under RD and we'll see.

That goes without saying, but there are none of them in the Scottish game at the moment that we don't have.

One thing that is apparent, Scotland really lacks top quality defenders. Only one i can think of i'd like to see in the team would be Robertson.

At present I don't think their are any who would get in our first 11.Ronny seems keen on this strategy though,Their are some really talented youngsters with a lot of potential in our League, would love to sign all them up on long term contracts and loan them all out to English championship,a bit like Chelsea on a smaller scale though,it's a good way to make money as the players who aren't good enough for our first team would be worth more than we paid for them in the first place, going by championship prices anyway. Is this a good idea?

Just to expand on what im trying to say,Ipswich are trying to sign Jordan McGhee from Hearts for 250k,Ipswich signed Tyrone Mings for less than that and just sold him for 8million.McGhee is highly rated but if he turned into an average Championship player we could sell to that League for 1,2 3 million,if he does well he can come back play for us in Champions League and be worth Double that,I think this should be our strategy, sign young players from anywhere tbh and loan them out,do what Chelsea do on a smaller scale.

Going a step further down to grass roots, I reckon we need more US-based federal/college system for youth development. For the young, young ages, kids shouldn't play for clubs, they should be developed at their local region/city academy. This is a funded system, each academy given equal funding, centrally organised with a view to there being equal opportunity for kids to learn and develop at equal standard facilities, with equal standard coaches etc. Run like this until the kids are say 16/17, then they can be released to the clubs to bid for their services, much like the NFL draft or something.

By centralising youth football in this manner, we'd keep greater control of the development of youth football, ensure consistency in coaching and we'd also make life easier for young aspiring players by localising their place of work. I had a mate who's son played for Hibs, and even though he lived in Edinburgh, his life was still ruled by going here there and everywhere with his son. He was under 12s. He had it good compared to the parents of the players who lived in Glasgow or beyond though. Between training and games they must have done 14-20 hours travel a week. Its crazy.

Local academies, 1st, 2nd, 3rd string teams, playing in regional leagues. Strict standards that are checked and regulated, with 'graduate' players going on to join professional clubs.

    Just an idea.

The last thing we need to do is follow the USA's route of youth development.

Far better models closer to home that translate better to football with proven results; Spain, Belgium, Holland, Germany etc etc...

    We need to copy Belgium.

Scotland needs more giant, black, pacey strikers.
