We won't sign another CB unless he does go on loan. At the moment we have 6 CBS, I think Yuki and Gus go before another comes in.

 

We should be all over this on a free. I'm not saying the guy takes us to the next level but it ticks so many boxes

 

Would easily be the best, deepest and most-balanced pool of CBs I can remember us having in my 30 years of watching Celtic. I include MON’s team (not much depth for the 3 positions).

 

Since mentioning the 3 centre halves during the MON era, we'd have the positional depth to occasionally switch to a 3-5-2, if necessary. I bet Maeda would thrive in a LWB role.

P.S. Surely you mean RWB for Maeda? Being right-footed, he’d just invert, get in the way of an already packed midfield, and we’d have no width. On the left of a front 3 in a 3-4-3, fine; not LWB in a month of Sundays but.

 

Agreed he'd be better suited at RWB, but we already have Johnston for that position. The idea is to replace Taylor who's a weak link in our starting lineup. I'd expect Maeda to do a great job on both flanks thanks to his elite work rate, pace and explosiveness.

 

…and why, then, have you got a guy who’s not good enough in his natural position playing in a role he’s never even tried before - especially just after he showed vs the Huns how summarily useless he is at the defensive side of the game? Forrest I could have understood, but come on…

Maeda on the left will always look to cut in while on the ball, and make diagonal runs in behind while off it. Either way, he’s going to be spending next to none of his time doing what you want a LWB to be doing.

I know you seem to thrive on your ideas being a bit “out there”, but this is something even for you.

 

You want the likes of abada and palma not to play so Johnston can be our attacking threat down the right?

To be honest the most difficult thing about that 352 is assuming all three centre backs will be fit enough at the same time in order to employ it.

 

Been our best defender arguably in the champions league this season so on current form I'd say he's better than mckenna. He's just a guy I've never rated to be honest.

 

Signing for Copenhagen

 

Don’t know if we were in for him or not but that’s a good move for him. Still in the CL and a class place to live. He’s already played in this league too. Even teams like Copenhagen are probably more appealing than us now.
