Then fair play credit to him and Rodgers but people aint blind, i trust rodgers but his record of signing defenders is shocking and for 4m or whatever we are going to pay for McKenna it could be better spent on players if we only looked abroad. SPL players aint all awful but its fair to say that not many of them outwidth us are even nearly good enough for us and this * hits that bracket, he doesnt even stand out for Aberdeen with anything, he's not quick, he doesnt score many for a defender, he cant pass and whenever we'v played them he's hardly stood out as a solid tackling defender, at least with Hayes and Mulumbu they stood out as good players when we played against them and look how theyve turned out, which shouldnt be the measure of every SPL player we sign but come on, no one can tell me this * is any better than Jozo

Mulgrew & Pressley we got for free, Hartley cost £1 million and was an experienced international who was one of the best players in the league for a few years.

If he came in on those terms I don't think many would complain. At £5 million+ though there's no margin for error.

I'm so sick of hearing that. People think he isn't GOOD enough having watched him. It's nothing to do with being "exotic". If there was another player the standard of Tierney in the league, we'd all be excited about signing him. There was a lot of excitement and competition about the signings of Scott Brown & Kevin Thomson both from Hibs back in the day, and anticipation of who was going to get who.

If you impress and you're good enough, there's excitement. I can see why there isn't from a lot of people for McKenna.

 

Still think he's a no nonsense defender with little risk that he could do a job.

 

He's, at most, a £2m player. Anything more would be daft.

Our scouting badly needs an overhaul. Stick someone on a plane to Holland or Belgium and you could get far better value for money, if we're talking upwards of £4m.

Exactly. We should always be looking at the best players in Scotland, I just don't think this lad is one of them. The only Scottish based defender who has really impressed me is Porteous at Hibs. He is only 19 too and seems to have a bit of the old style centre-back about him. I would much rather we signed him and he isn't exotic either.

 

whoever is in charge of the transfers has made a complete balls of it, Complete mismanagement now we have to pay over the odds for a bang average aberdeen player because no * had any intention of improving our defence for the past few years.
For such a supposedly well run club it's a shocking position we find ourselves in.selling sviatchenko ,buying hendry and compper ,not selling Boyata for £9 million because we couldn't get a replacement in with a fortnights notice,I'm sure there's more blunders im forgetting, now we have 3 positions to fill in defence before the start of the new season.it's so bad I'm thinking * it to avoid hendry playing champions league qualifiers sign McKenna as I have zero faith that anyone better will be identified or the proper sum of money to land them would be spent

 

At this point I'd pay the 10 mil and loan him back permanently just to make the rumours go away
