For the style he probably isn't suited, as he has the pace of Lustig, but sadly I think most defenders are not and he will forever play defenders in the sweeper role who are not suited. To play the role of a defender well to fit the system who is experienced is probably very expensive. I think Hendry was brought in as at 23 he can be molded, although it has probably failed and I think McKenna will be the same. I think for a good reasonable budget defence Rodgers needs to reorganise the defence. I think if we get rid of a couple of defenders (I doubt we will) then there is definitely space for him in the squad as he would be good domestically but another needs brought in on top of him.

 

He’s already said this month that the board bring in players.

Lawwell knows Rodgers will get a lot of heat from the fans for ‘signing’ McKenna and Hendry, hence why Lawwell is pushing for it.
