Agree with Greendave however its the exactly same reasons why we souldnt have wasted £££ on the likes of Hartley

Surely their is better quality out there,I refuse to believe hes the best we can do

even 750k is far too expensive for the likes of him

Signing this * just shows a severe lack of ambition of the Club. I doubt he'd do anything special at Celtic. Celtic fan or not, Scott MacDonald is a * and his 2 goals that day hurt me and many other fans so *' much. WGS- give Derek Riordan a run in the team and stop trying to buy Rangers targets for the * of it!

How does that show we are in front of them if we are stealing their targets that means we have the same targets which is particually good!

Christ, next we'll be signing the likes of Papac, Sebo and Sionko and end up like those monkeys from Ibrox. I hope to * that the board does have some ambitious targets for the summer.

Emotion aside. He is not the glam signing we are looking for but we just dont know how he would work out. He is a reasonable player and could just click and hit 30 for us next season. He could also fail but thats the gamble you take at the cheaper end of the marker. Some players blosom when they move to a better club (Naylor etc) while others cant handle playing in a big team at all. He could go either way. I personally think, although not classy, he is one of the best natural strikers in the SPL I know thats not saying much but that is the league we play in. Its probably a lot less riskier than getting some glove wearing light stepper from the med or south America who will cry at Pittodrie on a frosty December.

Magic, Arthur, Lubo, Stan P etc................

Any1 knw of any decent eastern european player out there?

Some of the best strikers can come out of "nowhere" some work, some dont --- he may be 1... remember Henke, and for the huns, MCoist, they were not setting the heather on fire at theyr existing clubs.... so gotta trust WGS here, if not succesful, the good thing is they will be sold for profit..

Totally agree. No Juninho glove wearing types. Two million buys a really good player in that part of the world.

henke didn't come out of nowhere he'd already played in a world cup semi final and scored the goal that got sweden third place and had been a fixture in the feyenoord side untill he fell out with the management before we signed him

Hmm for me I suspect this might be a squad signing. Facts are facts if we sell 1 or 2 of our misfiring forwards this summer and this seems to be a strong possibility we need to sign replacements. So to me if McDonald is being bought with that in mind he looks like about the kind of player we can afford. If we are lucky we can afford one quality forward to partner VOH but we would need another 2 decent strikers for the squad as back ups and McDonald I think would fit the bill in that regard.

Juninho was class. O'Neill messed him up and should have built the team round him instead of his favourites.

Definitely not the class goal getter we're lookin for. He is a better finisher than the misser though and is still quite young (I think).

The only real positive I can take is that him and I share a surname, so I can finally get McDonald on the back of my Celtic top without lookin like an overgrown 7 year old. Nice. :84: :50:
