FFS we are signing a guy in MARCH and already we're up in arms about it.

I expect Miller will go before Magic. Beattie doesnt cut it for me at mom but needs a decent run. McDon will be a diff type of striker to KM but more effective in the way teams play against us.

Lets get behind the boy and NOT FORGET its not even the end of the season yet. Bigger signings will come.

I admire GS bottle as this has the potential to be worse than even a Slater or Biggins signing in terms of abuse we will get from our neighbours. Whenever I think of McDonald I immediately think of him celebrating like he had won the lottery on the sorest day in my lifetime following the club. However players like Dixie Deans did the exact same thing for Motherwell too. He scored, he celebrated, I think it's time to move on.

He is only in his early 20s and already an Aussie internationalist who will replace Viduka in the very near future, if not already! He has scored 11 SPL goals this season with a struggling side (Miller has scored 4) which averages at just under 1 goal every other game and has been Motherwell's top scorer for years.

Tbh I'm not overly excited by the signing but I can see why GS has decided to do it. Back McDonald 100%.

I think skippy will do a decent job in the SPL, not sure bout europe though. WGS has propbably only signed him to get up the huns noses. If so, good on him. :84:

Ah but Dixie never went to Huns supporters clubs dos with Butcher to talk about the goals and stopping Timmy from winning the league.
There is also a Scott McDonald RSC somewhere too altho i guess they'll be changing their name soon.
And measuring strikers agin Miller is turning into a false analogy now tbh.
Tbh i think the opposite of admiring Strachan for this too, shows limited ambition i think and a willingness to settle for the average.
Obviously support him but have serious doubts

what is it with all you angry bitter ppl out there?? Yes skippy scored the goals that won those huns the title but he was a motherwell player at the time and he was doing his JOB for them. Do you honestly think he tried to score them just to pip us to the title? dont be soft. He gave his all for m/well and will do the same for us and for all you saying hes pish well he wasnt that pish the day he * us and thats comin from a lifelong tim so calm down and lets give the wee man a chance i reckon he'll get us 15 - 20 goals per season if played often enough and another thing lets say ,just for talkin sake, it was fernando torres or david villa that scored the goals that lost us that league would you be moaning about them signing??? nope:87:

PS hope we get Appiah he is class:50:

Hes hit a purple patch but was poor for most of the season and has the same score rate as Kenny Miller this season! Still, I know he is a good player but I really do not believe he would come back and there would be a bidding war which would quickly rise beyond our entire transfer budget. Liverpool got hiim cheap 6-7 million because of a contract clause and the fact he i seen as a nutter. If he was stable and on the open market on current form he would not be much cheaper than 10 million.

    You think he's good enough, I don't
    You think he'll score 15 to 20 goals per season, I don't

He wasn't pish on black sunday, we were. I'm not against him signing purely because of those goals, but because he is not the quality of player I was hoping to see us sign this summer. The fact that he played a part in possibly my darkest day as a Celtic fan just puts the tin lid on it.

He hasn't had a consistent run in the Liverpool team because Benitez is a rotation freak.

Obviously if he came back he would be the star attraction again, and would play every game if fit.

Not even you would try to compare Misser with Bellamy.

I am just predicting based on what I see in his technique which is pretty good if you stand back and break down his attributes. I think people dis the SPL players too easily and get all gooey and weak at the knees at anything in England. I wil be amazed if our big signings this summer are EPL-based players-the worst value for money market in the world.

    Early career

Another product to emerge from the famed Gippsland Falcons youth setup, where he became the club's youngest ever player when he made his full first team debut, aged just 14.
Started off as a trainee with Southampton in 2001 where he only managed one first team start and two appearance as a substitute, being loaned to Huddersfield Town and Bournemouth where again he had chances to play first team football. Upon reaching the end of his contract with Southampton he signed for the MK Dons on a rolling monthly contract.

    Achieving recognition

After joining Motherwell he had a slow start, scoring only 2 goals during the second half of the 2003-04 season despite impressive performances. The following season he proceeded to score 15 goals. McDonald famously scored two late goals against Celtic at the end of season 2004-05 to deny them the Scottish Premier League championship which was instead won by their arch-rivals Rangers. His goal against Falkirk on the 25 November2006 was the 5000th goal in the SPL since its formation in 1998. He has become affectionately known by his fellow players and fans alike as "Skippy".

Recently a £400,000 bid from Rangers was rejected by Motherwell.
Celtic have reportedly signed McDonald in a deal worth around £750,000. The player will be elligible for the start of the 2007/2008 SPL campaign.

    International career

He made his international debut for Australia against Bahrain on February 22, 2006 in an Asian Cup qualifier and has also represented Australia at U/17, U/20 and U/23 levels.
He played in 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship. Until this point, Scott had also been eligible to play for Scotland, as both of his parents are immigrant Scots.
Scott McDonald is managed by well known Australian FIFA Agent Lou Sticca and his partner in UK, former Rangers and Hearts player Dave McPherson.

What is Miller relativity? Is it some sort of new mathematical theory?

    Something like........KM + 10 = 0

    or Larsson - (Sutton + Hartson + Viduka + v.Hooijdonk + Cadete) = Miller

Kenny comparison was only me being silly but Bellamy's market value is beyond our budget and only his bad reputation has stopped his value going totally astral and way over 10 million. I just wish people would stop looking to the EPL cause our big signing striker is not going to come from there unless it is a bargain bucket failures like Beattie or a veteran etc (which I dont want). Our only hope for EPL players whose wish to play in the CL or love of Celtic outweights their greed and knowledge of the weakness of the SPL.

One less expensive EPL guy I think will end up here eventually is Faddy. He has only half made it and is a Tim so he would be less expensive and willing. I think he is a good player but he went to the EPL too soon and should have developed in Scotland for a few seasons first.
