    He has more strings to his bow definitely but that’s a tough one. Lenny was a rock solid metronomic player; win tackles, give balls to the better players. Wash, rinse and repeat for several years.

    CELTIC look set to face the Republic of Ireland for Scott Brown’s testimonial match.

    SunSport can reveal talks are at an advanced stage to arrange the glamour game at Parkhead at the end of the season.

    The date proposed is Sunday, May 20, the day after the Scottish Cup Final, and an announcement could even be made in the next 48 hours.

    It was reported last week that Liverpool were being lined up as opponents for Broony’s tribute game, which will see a significant percent of the money raised go to charities close to his heart.

    But talks with the Anfield club ended when they were knocked out of the FA Cup, meaning their season ends a week earlier on May 13.

    Now organisers are hoping to finalise arrangements with the FAI to stage a game which would be a guaranteed sellout.

    The friendly would see Celtic’s legendary boss Martin O’Neill and Roy Keane return to Parkhead to take on Brendan Rodgers’ side.

    Broony, 32, had a star-studded golf day last week, which was attended by Henrik Larsson and other former Hoops heroes.

    His testimonial comes ten years after the former Scotland skipper joined Celtic from Hibs for £4.4million.

    Celtic also have a bit of a reputation in parts of Ireland as a team with hardline Republican fans, who are neds.

    Yep, basically if you support Celtic you're an uneducated republican lout and the assumption would be that you have zero football knowledge, don't actually follow them and couldn't name 5 of their players. You only follow them cause it's the 'Irish republican' thing to do.

    I remember being enraged by this jibe. Ray Houghton, McGeady, McCarthy the list goes on...
