Is that UCL appearances starting from Plays offs or the 2nd & 3rd qualifying rounds?

Forrest’s Celtic career is so impressive when you look at it. People saying he’s only came good this season have a short memory. Yes he has been the most consistent he has ever been but he’s played some massive parts for us over the years.

Brendan Rodgers believes that Scott Brown has established himself as a Celtic legend.

The Parkhead skipper will make a little bit of history tonight when he leads Celtic out against Anderlecht in the club’s final UEFA Champions League game of Group B.

It will take Brown to 69 appearances in the competition – the most for any Scottish. It eclipses the previous record of 68 which was shared by Brown and Kenny Dalglish.

The only other Scot to have featured more than 60 times in the Champions League is Darren Fletcher who played 66 times with Manchester United.

And Rodgers was unequivocal in his praise of the Celtic captain and the influence he exerts.

“He will go down as one of the great legends of this club,” said Rodgers. “He is in the moment. He is still creating the legend and he still has a lot to achieve here.

“Like us all, really, it’s when you’re gone and your time has passed that’s when you get truly appreciated and I think that will be the case with him.”

Brown’s reputation goes before him at times but Rodgers has insisted that should not diminish his achievements and ability to play at the very top level.

“He’s a wee bit daft at times, Browny, and a bit laughing and joking and taking the * out of himself a wee bit…but don’t underestimate what he is achieving and what he has done in the game,” he said. “Whenever the time comes, and it won’t be for a few years yet.

“It’s really nice because I had enough people telling me when I came in here that his legs were gone, that he couldn’t run, and now I see him in big European and domestic games and he’s the real tactical engine of the team.

“He really dictates how we play, he’s the brain of the team. He is an absolutely brilliant player and he’s a credit in how he captains the club. He’s a real, real joy to work with.

“He’s like a pantomime villain when he goes on the pitch and that stirs people up.”

And Rodgers believes that the edge Brown plays with reminds of the way Luis Suarez absorbed the jeers from opposition supporters and used it to gee himself up.

“Suarez was the same,” said the Hoops boss. “The more you got after him, the better he was.

“You find that with the good players. Look at Scott Sinclair when he came on against Motherwell, he was bright. Every ground we went to with Suarez he got absolutely slaughtered and he’d then score hat-tricks or doubles.

“Browny has that same real belief in his abilities. That edge that the really good players have, they are right on the edge. Browny has that and it doesn’t matter if it’s Ibrox or the Allianz Arena he performs.

“He has a great attitude. It can stimulate something in the best players.

“He is an outstanding player, temperament-wise I have been really impressed by him. He’s had one and only one incident which was away at Ross County.

“Apart from that he’s played as I expected him to play with a real high level tactical discipline in games. He is a player of dominance and in the big teams you need a number of those and he is certainly the player of dominance for us.”

We won’t appreciate him fully until he hangs his boots up. He’s a bona fide Celtic legend.

If he played whole game then probably. Brown only accurate passer whole first half some good defensive work to.

Carrying people yet again when the goings getting tough. That first half he was on a 1 man mission at time's with no help..

Doesn't show up well for other's..

Excellent as usual. Must've been delighted when he finally had someone in the middle up for a fight and winning their own 50/50 battles..

Would give him a statue on the Celtic way tomorrow if he batters Armstrong in that changing room.

Remember when he said he was delighted Armstrong was in the middle so he didn't have to do as much running. A half dig at Bitton who'd been in their plenty with him..

    What a laugh........

Broony and Gordon probably saved the tie.
That early save and Broony's man of steel focus stopped us completely collapsing first half.
    The guy is incredible.

One of very few players we have that looks consistently comfortable at this level.

Always shows for the ball and always seems to have more time on it than the rest of our midfielders. He was our MOTM by a long way.
