Looking at those pictures, Broony is in fabulous shape and BBJ is pretty * trim for his age.

I wish this forum was around when the likes of Larson, Sutton, Hartson, morvcik were around. Some of the posts in the first few pages of those threads would be amazing haha

That's nice of him. But why do they constantly need to compare us to them? Who cares? He didnt play in England so it matters not a joy.

That being said, Broony would have been class down south. Look at * like Barton who was a standout in the the Championship before coming here and getting absolutely bullied.

Celtic would take over England if we played down there.

I think the key words are "big club".

Would look at it as: Would Brown have had the same influence at Arsenal, Chelsea, United, Liverpool?

Considering he's had some very poor seasons at Celtic, it's a definite no from me. Brown isn't getting into them teams, maybe a poor Arsenal midfield, but he's not going to have the influence he has here playing against weaker opposition.

I agree on the comparison, the article didn't give you any context though, he may of been probed by the interviewer.

I think your doing him a massive disservice mate. Look how his games came on under Brendan in his 30's, it's not hard to imagine the player he would have been with several seasons of world class management. Strachan, Mowbray, Lenny and Ronny are hardly top tier managers.

    Maybe.

I love Brown and have backed him through his worst times in a Celtic shirt, not for me though.

Arsenal had there worst season in Wengers reign, would Brown displace any of; Xhaka, Ramsey, Cazorla, Ozil, even Wilshire?

EPL is at it's poorest as well, never mind a few years back when it was much stronger. Midfields of Gerrard, Mascherano, Alonso and others.

Players like Cleverly, Fletcher (to a lesser extent, was very useful in his prime), Henderson, Lucas, Coquelin etc I believe Brown could do a job or better those. Scholes said could he have the same influence he does in Scotland though? Dropping back and pulling the strings almost from centre half, bullying players, driving the team forward - Different ball game to doing it in Scotland for a vastly superior side.

I don't think it's unfair to say he wouldn't have had the same influence down south - it's a better league with better players. Brown is a very good player capable of holding his own, and even standing out in the CL, but there have obviously been a lot of English premier league players over the last 10 years capable of doing the same.

It's a different think entirely to say he wouldn't cut it down there, which is clearly * gibberish. There are loads of players significantly worse than Brown who have spent the best part of their careers in top flight football south of the border. I suspect that if you were to put us in the EPL just now with Brendan in charge and Brown captain he would've finished the season as one of the most influential midfielders. He had a fantastic season both domestically and in the CL.

Asked about the Scholes remarks, he said: “If I was still the manager of any of the teams I had that did reasonably well in the Premier League, I'd take him (Brown).
"Okay, the game might have changed since I was at Southampton. We were fourth in the league at one point and I'd still have had him in the team. But I have no problem with people having an opinion on players.
"But let me tell you, I watched him again in training today and he's back running to how he did when I first signed him for Celtic. That's where he is, and when you're going into big games like this one there's nothing better than having people like him around you.
"The real test of a player, also, isn't anybody's opinion who doesn't watch him every week. You're big test as a player is what your team mates think of you. When you finish your career that's what matters. The rest don't matter, your team mates are the only ones who are the test of who you are, what you are and what you brought to a team."
Strachan added: “Honestly, I don't think the man sleeps, but if he did he wouldn't have lost any of it. I don't think it'll have bothered him one little bit.
"It's like the Player of Year awards. People were asking if he would have been upset (at not being nominated). I think he would have been delighted. It meant he didn't need to sit in front of the media and talk, or get dressed up for a ball."

Brown has a trick of getting the game by the neck and push our team on. He is looked up to and relied on the pitch. He played more last season alike Roy Keane when he was getting all the plaudits.
