JOHN Kennedy has been in Paradise for the entirety of Scott Brown’s Celtic career and he’s adamant that the 31-year-old is playing the best football of his life.

The Hoops first-team coach was still a player in Paradise when Brown signed from Hibernian in the summer of 2007. After injury forced Kennedy to retire from the game, he became part of the backroom staff at the club before taking up his current position in 2014.

Having played alongside Brown and worked with the Celtic captain over the past nine-and-a-half years, he is well placed to evaluate his performances.

And Kennedy reckons that the midfielder has become a more mature footballer this season under Brendan Rodgers.

“This is the best I have seen him, 100 per cent,” he said. “In his first season here, I was still a player and played with him for four or five months and he was young, energetic and full of legs.

“Going forward he started to find his position but now he has moulded everything together in that he still has great strength, legs and energy but he is playing with his brain more now than ever, and that’s credit as well to the manager who has spent a lot of time with him in terms of positionally where he sees him and what his job is in the team.

“The problem with Scott is that sometimes when games aren’t going your way, the type of character he is means that he wants to do everyone’s job, get after it and do everything on the pitch.

“Now he has a trust there in the team that if he does his job and everyone else does their job then everything will come together. He has shown a real maturity and intelligence in his game in the last six months.”

Brown will miss tomorrow’s match with Dundee through suspension, and although Kennedy acknowledged being without the skipper will be a blow, he is confident the squad had sufficient depth to cope in his absence.

“It’s another change we have to make but we have plenty players who can go and play in that position,” said the coach. “He will be a loss as he has been great for us this season, captain and a real driving force and captain but we have personnel who can slide straight into that position.

“The depth in the squad has been an important factor for us because we do play a lot of games and we have done this far and you certainly need a bit of depth in there, and the quality the players have shown when they come in has been terrific.”

Not going to slate the team's performance. We started off really well but he's still our most important player and such a big loss.

Happy with the 3 points... We've had so many games recently and can't play fantastic all the time.

Last 20 minutes of that game you felt his presence missing. Not just him bug Lustig.

And earlier in the season Kolo Toure as well.

SB: "Everyone in that dressing room is enjoying football and enjoying training."

SB: "There’s competitiveness throughout the dressing room and I think that’s what is pushing us on."

SB: "It’s a good place to be just now, there are good spirits, the fans are behind us, whether it’s home or away."

SB on December fixtures: "It’s always hard as you are playing a game every three days so it’s hard on everyone’s body."

SB: "The training has been minimised throughout, though, and we find out what we’ve been doing using GPS scanners."

SB: "When you are in a good place you just continue, it’s all about momentum."

SB: "These next three games are going to be huge and it’s about how much we want it."

SB: "We want to push everyone as far as we can and to continue playing as well as we possibly can."

SB: "And the way we have been playing has been entertaining for the crowd and they have been pushing us on as well."

SB on repeat games in December: "You know how teams shape up against you but they might change a couple of things here and there."

SB: "It’s on astro, so it’s a totally different game now for us v @acciesfc."

SB: "We’ll hopefully get the ball down and hopefully play better there than we did last season."

Love Broony, he's always smiling and up for a laugh. He must be a brilliant team mate and that confidence must inspire the rest of the team too cause when he goes into battle he's concentrated and takes things seriously. He's so assured of himself.

Don't know how he kept his cool today..

Don't know how many time's he was fouled, bundle over or slid from behind, pulled down in the box and some statto may be able to tell me if Broony was fouled upon once, where we got a freekick?

    I doubt it..
