Definitely think that's going a bit far mate. He's no McGrain, McStay or Lambert yet! Still, he's showing exceptional leadership qualities and has been outstanding recently. Long may it continue.

As horrible as this sounds it's gonna be a * when Beram's back!

We've got 4 top class centre mids, if all are on form, at this club now. If Commons finds long term consistency, and Ibrahim develops into the player I think he could be, then that's two more to add to the list.

Not to mention McGeouch, Filip Twardzik and Paul George who I think are excellent central midfield prospects (although all 3 can play elsewhere as well)

If he continues to chip in with goals and assists then there is no reason to drop him. Technically he will never be as proficient as a Ledley or a Ki but then results will ultimately speak for themselves.

Long may this purple patch in the final third continue.

He's playing well at the moment, he's driving this team on and won't be dropped. The thing that has annoyed me the most is that Neil Lennon wouldn't drop him when there was better options, now he's on form he should keep his place though because he's done very well.

He makes the very best from his limited technical ability and I thought his short passing was a lot better tonight. I hope it continues because the confidence is raying from him.

He wouldn't get in the first-team if all our midfielders were fit and on form though.

Delighted with his performance. You know, I never saw that coming at all. If that's what a confident Scott Brown can do on a regular basis, then he'll turn my opinion right around. I'm hopeful obviously because he works his socks off but I think this might just be a short run of good form.

Aye but what do you expect them to say, "He's a big wean" ?

Mind you, fair play to Stokesey, he said exactly that. :56:

For me, McManus was a much better captain. But unfortunately, not a starter at CB, for my money.

But anyhow, despite I think he has neither the smarts nor the temperament to be a great captain, he put in a right good shift tonight so fair play. :50:

Imo he contributes alot more when played through the middle. Getting forward he is decent, just doesn't do it enough. His passing is not nearly as bad as made out on here either. For me he is very innefective on the right and would rather Forrest played there.

The thing is, we have Ledley, Wanyama and Kayal who should all be ahead of him in the pecking order for a CM spot, must be so difficult for lenny picking our midfield at this moment in time

Not his biggest fan by any means however he's played very well recently. Also I've only seen the highlights from tonights game, but it looked like he had a stormer.

Just since I can see some people arguing about his positioning tonight I thought I'd throw my hat in. I think when we had the ball we played 4312 with James drifting in behind the forwards and essentially three CMs with Brown on the right side. I think when we lost the ball James would drop back in and it switched to a more solid 442 with James out right.

Thought Brown was excellent again though. Wish that bet that he wouldn't score 10 goals was this season.

No, and I think that's key.

For me, he doesn't have the footballing intelligence to play a central role. But when you have two level heads like Wanyama and Ledley in there, it establishes a foundation that lets Broon yelp aboot like a maddie without disrupting the basic shape of the team.

With Sammy causing havoc from a deep wide position, we played pretty much a 5-man midfield for a lot of tonight's game, and that is when I am happy with Brown in the team. Two central players keeping the shape and spraying the ball, two wide players giving us the breadth (Sammy and Forrest) and SB in a roving role, breaking things up and zooming into the channels when space arises. And space will arise with James and Sammy stretching things open, and Joe Ledley picking the passes.

That is his niche. The sad thing is, it leaves no room for Stokesey in the team, except as a sub...
