Absolutely mate - it's Petrov all over again.

Peter Lawwell is currently grinning from ear to ear, and planning his phone call to the new manager of Sunderland. :50::50::50:

Honestly man, how can you possibly back that up?

Our last seven games before Brown got injured:
    2 wins
    1 draw
    4 defeats
One of those two victories was the match he didn't play in.
That run included a 1-0 home defeat to St Johnstone.

Our last nine games with Brown out:
    7 wins
    1 draw
    1 defeat (Atletico)

That run included a 3-1 win against Rennes.

How can you possibly say we were better with him in?

I think the quotes/stats re Broony refer to last season. This season, however has been entirely different but then the same can be said for a lot of the players this term.

Hooper, Commons & Kayal were particularly guilty of loss of form.

Certainly last season when Broony played we won and when he didn't we dropped points - not referring to every single game, as I'm sure there will be exceptions but you catch my drift.

Either way getting him signed up is a good thing, as it means he won't leave on a Bosman!

Wonder now if we'll find out in the next window or two just how much Pardew actually rates him...

Glad at this news. He is a good option to have for tricky away games and to give Forrest a rest sometimes. And at least we will now get a decent fee if he moves on.

I fear though that Wanyama will find himself back on the bench to accommodate Brown in the middle so that Forrest can play on the right.

This. Although Ki should probably be our next priority as he only has 18 months left on his.

Aye man - Pardew is a chancer. Think they were hoping to pick him up for buttons, cos obviously he'd want to come and warm the bench in the EPL.

And remember too, Newcastle are a really big club. :56:

Good news no matter what your views on him as a player are. Losing a guy who paid 4.4 million for, plus mega wages, for * all would have been terrible management.

Don't think he's up to much, decent squad player to have but certainly not a captain or first pick for me, still, glad we've got him on contract and won't lose him for nothing, with the amount we paid for him and the wages he's been picking up it'd be a disgrace if we didn't make anything back on him.

...if anyone will actually come and buy him.

While I respect your opinion and agree with a portion of what you say. Last season inparticular Scott's game has came on tenfold, even Craig Levein was quoted asking how Lennon improved Brown's short passing game so much. He has improved into a better, more mature and with a better temprament of a player. Remember all the silly bookings he used to get? Well he deserves credit for eradicating that from his game, all without losing his bite in the middle of the park.

I am delighted that he is going to stay, a great servant to the club, despite his injury troubles.

Hopefully this means we are looking to punt him, no doubt he has a stupidly huge wage in comparison to his abilities now.
