Well we'll have to agree to disagree but for me corners are a different kettle of fish and I differentiate that from their open play attacking license.

Also in the 2 months or so Brown was missing, we've still averaged the lions share of possession and our midfield for me has been excellent. Our problems have been lack of cutting edge up front but mainly inability to protect an advantage (most significantly from setpieces but also individual error)

I think a) Brown right now wouldn't contribute to helping these problem areas and b) would also signficantly hinder our creativity.

Paul Lambert was technically superb at every aspect of both attacking and defensive football. His passing was immaculate and his shooting, especially from long distance, was superb.

Forgetting that though, because Brown ISN'T a defensive centre mid and never has been, you cannot just overlook the fact he doesn't score or create anything whatsover. Until he starts doing it, his fan club have absolutely no foundation as to why he is captain wonderful.

I haven't checked out how many goals Lambert scored or whatever but I did point out he was a much better player.

Brown doesn't get forward but protects the defence. This makes him more of a DM. Ledley however, does get forward and misses chances as we all must have noticed recently thanks to his partner who is able to patrol a vast amount of ground compared to others.

The reason I see him as 'Captain Wonderful' as you put? Pretty simple. When he's in the team, we ALWAYS win. I'm talking SPL here of course. Take him out and we're lucky to string two victories together.

FFS THE GUY PLAYS DM. DMs rarely score. Lenny, Hartley etc scored even less. Brown plays DM too so why should be be judged by goals, assists etc. Lenny never was.

Sorry but that is irrational. The point is he is played as a DM. If he was attacking and scoring significant amounts he would probably not be doing his DM job right. If you are played as a DM you basically very rarely score. To ignore the fact he is played as a DM just because once upon a time he was an attacking MF is just choosing to ignore the facts so he can be criticised undeservedly over his attacking aspects of his game.

People have to understand that Scott Brown is a defensive midfielder. Scott Brown is played as a defensive midfielder for Celtic. Brown is played as a defensive midfielder by Scotland. Brown played as a defensive midfielder with Hibs. Brown's job is and always has been to break up attacks, hound and harry opponents, and link up play from back to front. To use Lambert as a comparison is irrational, because Lambert had Lennon covering his * everytime he broke forward. Brown has no such luxury as a Lennon behind him. Scott Brown's goals and assists is probably as good as any comparable defensive midfielder in the game.

Not saying we should sell him (unless we get a half-decent offer) but Kayal is just a better version of him who can pass.

I just dont think you can make the captain redundant at a whim. I think Broonys still an important part of the team. I ve got 'Broony 8' on the back of my away top.:50:

I think there is space for Brown and Kayal.

But Kayal has really staked his claim today. He can't be dropped after that.

Lenny seems to want to stick with 4 in midfield

    Forrest----Kayal---Ki----McCourt

Personally, based on performances this season, I don't see how any of the people above could be dropped for anyone (either Brown or Ljungberg).

The fact that Ki is away makes it a bit more complicated, but even then, Juarez has looked great and Ledley was good next to Kayal, so really I don't see how Brown can walk back into the team
