Broony seems to divide opinion amongst Celtic fans. Some people seem to judge a footballer by stats, eg. assists, passes completed etc, and I dare say Broony falls down if you judge a player on that.

Broony brings so many intangibles to our team though. He does get stuck in, he closes players down and he provides an energy to our midfield that none of our other midfielders does.

He's had his bad games at Celtic for sure but I am a fan of Scott Brown. I think he's a good player and I wouldn't like to see Celtic sell him.

Yes stats indeed are a wonderful thing. But my stats are fresher than your stats. That was Brown's 10th win as captain against Motherwell, another clean sheet, maintaining his 100% record.

And don't you think winning leagues and cups are the collective responsibility of the whole team and management ? Not down to one solitary individual. It is a bit unfair to tar Brown alone for the loss of previous championships and trophies IMO. And similarly who is to say we won't the league this year under Scott Brown's impeccable captain credentials ?

Less about the stats Mark - as we know they can be so misleading.

His composure and technique in the final third is pretty dreadful. His passing from the middle is bad too.

When he keeps it simple, plays aggressively and uses his dynamism to close the opposition midfield - he's fine.

But if we ever need a bit of class and intelligence on the ball from the middle he is totally useless.

I know what you're saying. If we try to use Broony as a 'playmaker' in our team then we'll always be left disappointed. Broony just isn't that type of player. However, Broony does have good qualities, qualities that are suited to Scottish Football, so if we use Broony the right way I think he's definitely got a role to play for us.

I never said Ki never put in a tackle but he never makes it difficult for the oposition, Ki is my favourite CM atm but i just feel from a operating point brown is much more aggresive (not always good) and really does make it difficult for the other team.

And that Brown sending off was a total farce.

He is 100x better than Joe Ledley who doesn't even show up 90% of games.

Edit: Personally my midfield would be:

    ------Kayal---
    -----Ki----Brown-
    -Ljunberg-----Mccourt

But when 2 strikers are required, which is every game for celtic then i'd swap interchange kayal/ki next to brown.

I disagree.... although ledley hasnt really got going yet he has been ok while scott brown is usually arguing with people or getting himself sent off somewhere... i would have ledley over him anyday of the week ledley was good in the championship also...... i will be glad to see the back of brown the way he accepted the red card at ipox when his mate thomson hugged him was disgusting i was at the game and alot of ppl said i hope he doesnt play for us again and booed him off the pitch.... hes a wast of space in our team with no ability and is probably the highest wage earner at the club.

Quite the reverse Brown is vastly overrated, lacks composure on the ball, mentally immature on the field of play, wears the armband yet sets a bad example to the rest of the team, if i were organising a mini bus to ship out the dead wood he would be on it along side Sammy, Loovens and a few others who are clearly unfit to wear the jersey.

Underated or overated he's still been an improvement on ledley.

I have to agree with you Jamesy Bhoy7.
Without seeking to veer this thread off topic, I have been hugely underwhelmed by Ledley's contribution to the team. He was very poor in the last Old Firm game, got himself rashly ordered off against Hearts, which cost us the match that day IMHO, and Ledley has largely been a passenger in our midfield all season, whereas Ki has shone like a lamp. We need a big performance from Joe Ledley, if he plays, otherwise what is the point in keeping him any longer ?

I will be gutted if we lose Scott Brown from the club, as he is the type of player I think gets better with age and experience.

John Collins could come into the team at his age and still get more goals and assists than Broony

Ledley has been passive in a lot of games yet still provides infinitely more attacking prowess than Brown.

To suggest Brown has 'impeccable captain qualities' is nothing short of ridiculous considering he is as thick as 2 short planks and does not lead by example in any way whatsoever.

Scott needs led, he doesn't have it in him to lead others.

I would have to agree with that. Broony is not really captain material. The problem we have though is that we don't have an obvious candidate for captain. Our team lacks leadership, it's one of our glaring weaknesses.
