Excellent one on one in the first half, he's excellent at those for a keeper who's not that imposing.

His passing isn't as good as it was under Rodgers, seems he's been told to play it less and get it forward quicker.

I really wanna like him but lately I just can't. He does not have the height that Gordon has, nor he is as good when it comes to miracle saves. He simply isn't a match winner which our previous keepers like Forster and Gordon were. Don't get me wrong. He is decent to say the least but one of the biggest things for him was his distribution and it seems...well...* lately. If things don't change in upcoming weeks I would go back to Gordon tbh.

Gordon has never been a consistent match winner

Folk wanting Gordon back in goals - * * indeed.

Football fans really are very fickle. What exactly did he do last night in the monsoon weather that warrants wanting Gordon back in goal? The last few games of last season he was instructed to go long (which I absolutely hate by the way); therefore, passing is never going to be as accurate. The way that we set up towards the end of last season meant that the inch perfect floated balls out to the wingers was not on as much.

Apart from the Hearts game has he really made a mistake for us? Gordon made mistake after mistake and was as much a ‘match loser’ as he was a ‘match winner’.

Thought he made a few world class saves last season to be honest. Goal yesterday wasnt his fault so dunno where all this drama is coming from. Is it just * trolling?

I don’t want Gordon back in goal, but it’s pretty obvious Bain’s form has since about March time.

Wee simple dinked passes he was making to the full backs are now being overhit out for throws. Last night he kicked one out the park under zero pressure, and it was actually 10 yards behind the person he was aiming for. Against Hearts at Tynecastle and in the last game of the season he gifted them a goal in each game due to fannying about on the ball.

He hasn’t been commanding his area. A couple of times last night Bitton was screaming for Bain to come off his line but he hesitated or just didn’t even move. There was the goal against the huns from the free kick where he was quite unlucky but didn’t cover himself in glory.

He’s a good keeper and better than Gordon. But he’s definitely looked far less assured the last few months.

He is small. 6ft for a keeper is the bare minimum in terms of height.

His introduction into Brendans style of play was brilliant for the team at the time. But if we're going to abandon that pure possesion approach for the most part. We wont be fully utlising his skill set. If we're not doing that. I dont see the point in persisting with a keeper that doesn't have what's required first and foremost now. Under Brendan what he lacked under a cross he made up for starting plays and being the 11th player pretty much.

There shouldn't be much adjusting for Bain in this system. Its different when a shot stopper with 2 left feet like Gordon had to adjust to BRs style. Bain is just dealing with a reduced passing load and us playing a more open game.

Im not calling for Gordon to come back in. But in this system and in this form Bain is no more deserving of a start now.

'The Story Of' is a web series dedicated to small but special tales from illustrious Celtic’s history. Here, Scott Bain talks us through one particularly crucial quadruple save on the road to the Treble Treble.

NOT only did Hoops stopper Scott Bain mark his first competitive game of 2019 with a clean sheet, he did so with one of his personal favourite saves.

In fact, that’s perhaps selling it short. Because the 27-year-old’s save of choice was actually a series of impressive and heroic point-blank reaction blocks to keep the scoreline tied against Airdrieonians in the fourth-round of last season’s Scottish Cup.

As half-time approached, Celtic enjoyed the lion’s share of possession at Paradise, before the visitors broke rank from the back to test Bain with a flurry of attempts at goal.

“I remember making the first save from the ball across when the boy slide in,” explained Bain. “After that I was thinking, let’s not let that good save go to waste, so I kept throwing myself in front of the ball every time to try and block it and make sure that first save meant something.”

The Scottish champions would, of course, go on to win that game 3-0, and would eventually retain the Scottish Cup itself, thus securing the unprecedented and historic Treble Treble.

Bain added: “That game was important because the manager had said I was going to get a run in the team starting from that point. It was important to get off to a good start and was what you would call a relatively easy game for us.

“It was a case of showing what I could do, so it was good to make that save and then play in the next five or six games after that. It was the most important time in season for me because it helped bring about the other games that followed.”

It's all to do with confidence. Beating a keeper is a massive thing I'd imagine. McGregor is great for them and they've had a few keepers like that. Can you say hand on heart, their fans would feel better with Bain than Gordon? I doubt it! For me, Gordon is the better Scotland keeper out the two and always has been. A massive presence and a match winner! Bain has done little wrong but I don't believe in him either.

Could have played with a Backie in the day!

Minute I seen St Johnstone team it was clearly a 5-5-0.

That’s what we need to do against every team domestically get an early goal first 20 minutes * their game plan totally!

    Indeed it was.

Very good start today for everyone still feel we need 2 or 3 additions but when you see the list of players out and those on the bench how the * anyone can say we aren’t strong middle to front is beyond me!
