You'll find the majority of those are offended. Even kyogo would save them.

He's a quota filler and goalie is a likely position to have one of those. Not overly worried about him being our third choice goalie.

The dislike our support has of him has always been weird, always been professional, has pushed guys infront of him who shouldn’t be challenged off Bain enough he’s won a place, he’s very popular in the dressing room, mentioned a lot as a leader. And he’s cheap, no hassle. And a large section pf fans hate it for some reason

My cousin reckoned Bain has 4 league titles, 3 Scottish cups and 3 league cups, if true that’s some haul for a much maligned 3rd choice goalie, mind he nearly signed for hibs but our injury crisis caused us to go for him, definitely gave Bain a sliding doors moment in his career

Think it's more fans don't rate him. Sure he's well liked but doubt he's a leader. Not even sure what that would mean in his position. Does he fistbump everyone as they go by the bench?

He's not a very good keeper and judging by preseason and the midweek game he's actually going backwards.

I'd have kept Hazard, if he was willing to stay instead of Bain. Although looks like he's carving out a bit of a career in the Championship so would have been less good for him.

What can he pass on? Having recently watched a documentary about a rancid tin of corned beef, left out to sweat in a butchers window in Aberdeen... Typhoid.
    Maybe worse.

He's Scottish (home-grown) he's happy being 3rd choice and apparently he's great in training supporting the other goalkeepers to be confident playing the ball with their feet.

I don't really know what else you want from a 3rd choice keeper

Has always been a mediocre / poor goalkeeper, still living off a very good debut v Rangers at Ibrox 7 years ago.
Absolutely astonishing that he got an extension a year or so ago, should not be renewed this time.

I’ve just always said he’s not good enough to be our backup, which he’s not. More than happy to have him as third choice. You’d need to be spectacularly * to not be good enough to be third choice for us

Hazard wanted to play football, he is young and he needed away. If it didn't work out he could come back as 3rd choice.

3rd choice doesn't really matter much how good they are. So unlikely to actually play in anything meaningful. They should be homegrown though to not take up squad space.

Sure I get that. I agree on Hazard, he was home-grown too I'm sure which is partly why I mentioned him. But yeh why sit on the bench when you can actually play at a decent level.

To be clear I don't really mind Bain just don't see the benefits of him being 3rd choice instead of a development player for instance. As you say, it doesn't really matter.

Why, he'll never play, it's more important how he is as around the training ground. Man City's third choice keeper is Scott Carson
If we ever have such an injury crisis that we lose both our other two keepers long term, we'll buy someone else

Could we not just have kept McCarthy 3rd choice then? I do think it would be better if a development player had the opportunity to learn from the other 2 choices as well as getting some exposure to games like last Wednesdays.

I'd say the development players are better off being on loan than being third choice.

Think that’s what the boy we signed this summer was , the second choice. Dunno what’s happened to him is he injured?

He’s been a really good second choice for us IMO, he’s forced his way in over better keepers and we’ve seen more of him than any second choice keeper I can remember. I’m convinced because of that, him absolutely not good enough as first choice, has * the fans opinion of him.

I think he’s 3rd choice now or should be if we’ve done our jobs right with the young keeper we brought in. I’m happy with that role.
