Tbf both Shaun and Mcgeady were excellent for us. I'm 29 so can remember the good and bad times. Mcgeady was really good but tried that bit too hard sometimes. He was a bit younger as well though remember, so was keen to impress.

They were actually both better than the other at different times, now that I think about it. Maloney won us the game tonight and played better but McGeady plays for Everton and Maloney Wigan. Shaun does deserve better than that haha. * it, I'm out of this argument :celt_2:

Let me just say this. I judge a player when I watch him and I've never felt McGeady made us as in Celtic better. Not my type of player. Full of tricks that slow the play down. Maloney and Naismith....players like that, they get into opponents faces and take them on. A defender's nightmare basically. I'm glad McGeady ain't Scottish but McCarthy's a different matter. He is a real talent who will get better and better.

So a player who was consistently the most creative player in the team, set up goals in the Champions League etc. never brought anything to the team?

Aiden has his bad points but for you to think he was a poor Celtic player is just strange to be honest.

Since we're talking about McGeady, who all think he would get a game for us right now? Keeping in mind that until very recently many Irish supporters said the same things that have always been said about him. No end product etc, etc.

He would get a game, without doubt. No end product is a myth or at least it was for Celtic, he set up more goals than Naka in Naka's time here. If McGeady had no end product, that doesn't say much for everyone else.

I agree. McGeady is a fantastic player. He'd get a game no doubt.

Maloney is a more intelligent player for me though. He's definitely better than the level he's at (as his Premiership performances showed.)

Maloney is a better fitba player than McGeady. I've always maintained that.

The stats of their time spent in the Hoops are in Shauns favour too...

    Maloney
    0.24 goals per game
    0.34 assists per game

    McGeady
    0.14 goals per game
    0.32 assists per game

    *!

McGeady only had 9 more assists that Maloney... despite Aidan having played 36 more games!

Maloney > Mcgeady. My eyes told me that before the stats confirmed the hard fact.

For Celtic Maloney was often anonymous when you needed it him most. McGeady often turned results in our favour. Spastics will not tell you if his goals or assists were crucial. Also injured far too often.

Maloney a better player than McGeady for Celtic :56::56:

McGeady was the only player worth the admission fee for long periods under Strachan. He carried us.

It's not about who was better "back then" it's about who is better right now, and that's Maloney without a doubt.

Still buzzing from the game, what a goal and a performance from Scotland! Got to say some of the Irish fans on here deserved to have your team beat the way you were talking on here, would never say "get it up ye" to a celtic fan but that should teach you to be so cocky.

Were the Irish any more cocky than the Scottish? Do you not expect fans to * up their own team and expect them to win? No matter who we(Celtic) play we always talk up our team an expect a result even against the likes of Barca. Sometime you even get the unexpected result.

When we play in the Aviva will Scotland fans on here play down their chances of victory?

Edit What about the 3-0 forecasts for a Scotland win?
