I am studying the CFA at the moment and about 15% of the exam is Quants. Studying it at the minute and it is pretty tough as well,.

Like you I'll be damned if I can remember much of the class I done last year mate :smiley-laughing002::50:

Think I have a general guide for SPSS from that class on my laptop though, could dig that out if you want :50:?

I had my last ever class, other than a few revision sessions, at uni today. Pretty gutted tbh. :smiley-laughing002:

Been given a conditional offer from Robert Gordons for a Masters, MSc in Financial Management, subject to getting a 2:2, which without getting ahead of myself is a given.

Waiting to hear back from Aberdeen Uni on a masters course i applied for.

    But overall very good news.

Yes lower second class honours, i was surprised myself but i think finance masters aren't exactly the most popular in the world.

The other course i have applied for at Aberdeen is definitely going to demand a 2:1, just hope i can get an offer from it. Good to have a pretty secure backup from a University in the same city and one that has a really good reputation in business.

Does SAAS fund that? Or do you need to fund it yourself?

    Well done btw :celt_2:

After 8 years studying (music and architecture) I cannot wait to finish and get an actual job. Uni is horrendous, would have learnt more going straight into a job from school.

I can get a SAAS Loan of up to £3400 for tuition fees, similar to the student loan while an undergrad. I do have to pay it back eventually when i earn more than circa 15k. So its not free but at least i won't have to pay for it up front.

Unfortunately the course is 4k so will have to stump up the extra 600 quid myself. I am working part time though at the moment so over the summer will work an extra shift or two each week to get the extra cash.

It used to be that a bachelors degree set you ahead of the rest but now its a masters, tried to get into graduate jobs, came close on one or two occasions but its so competitive, so my thinking is to elevate my degree, another year of work experience added to my CV and hopefully make some contacts while doing my masters since we work closely with companies on projects and things.

    Cheers for the info mate.

Not too bad I guess as I thought you had to stump up the cash up front with no help from SAAS.

I'm only in second year the now but the time is flying in so definitely need to have a serious think about the future and whether I want to stay on after the end of 4 years or not.

Have anyone ever done a postgrad ? I'm looking at it just now and have no idea what regard it's held in. For example, there are one year courses - how does that compare to you doing the full degree course for example ?

It depends, 1 year courses are generally masters courses, MSc, to do these you need a bachelors degree, an honours degree. Masters are held in quite high regard especially if they are meaningful ones. They aren't cheap though, you don't get the same kind of funding for them as you do in undergrad courses.

You can also do postgraduates courses in full i.e Medicine, Dentistry etc...
So if you couldn't get into Medicine from school but got into Biomedical science for example then with a degree in Biomedical science you could apply to do dentistry, which would take another 5 years.

For certain courses its a 1 year extension, for others its simply doing the course again like an undergrad except you have another degree.

Anyone ever done a class in econometrics? Got a project to do and I've a few pretty basic questions regarding insignificant variables and adjusted R squared values.

I did maths and stats but decided against econometrics, * that, fire away and ill see if i can answer but if its the theory behind them rather than calculating adjusted r squared then im not sure i can help.

I'm similar to you in that I'm looking to do a post grad in teaching via a PGDE. Has anyone ever done this on here? Really not sure what I'm doing. I left with my bachelors degree, as I had some family issues before going into my fourth year and I just never had the urge to go back and finish my honours, something I massively regret now :38:

Right, I'll batter away anyway. Maybe someone else might know.

So I've ran a regression which showed a few insignificant variables. I ran a few more until I managed to remove all the insignificant variables, leaving only significant variables in the regression. However, this new regression has a lower adjusted R squared value than previous regressions which contained an insignificant explanatory variable. Normally, you'd select the regression with the highest adjusted R squared, but I'm unsure as to pick between the higher adjusted R squared or the one with no insignificant variables.

Knew that this class would be a nightmare, * knows why I took it.
