He has never been great for a period of time in his celtic career

The best run of form Samaras had as a Celtic player was at the start of the 2008/2009 season. The first 2-3 months of that season he was on fire and then he got injured. When he came back from that injury he was diabolical and has rarely looked like the same player since.

    This :50:

To be fair m8 he was good in the 08/09 season then he got an injury just before the villarreal game, think he had 11 goals up to that point then finished the league with 14

I agree with you to an extent.

basically to me it seems like Sammy was hated the day he arrived because of his record at man city when * pearce was in charge (who's really going to score loads of goals with him in charge?).

and yet some one from a much more inferior league who is also older in Paddy is loved so much the second he signs which i find ridiculous.

fans have been on Sammys case from the day he set foot in glasgow let alone a celtic top and no matter how good a player you are that will effect anyone just look at rooney with the attention he started getting from opposing fans this season and how much he is struggled, and for the love of football NO i'm not comparing the two just using them as an example of cases were fan pressure can * up the best of players.

At a time when Skippys goals had been thin Sammy was banging them in like no tommorrow i would like to get more detailed info during that particular purple patch but i don't know how to but it still shows that this guy has qaulity about him and during that period it was greece that ignored his complaints of a possible injury which then left him out the picture for a while and celtic were livid because they just lost a player who was on fire but yet Sammy was still getting put down.

Sammy was never given a chance by the fans at all the second he signed was the second fans were on his back and just destorying his confidence.

it something like 11 goals in as many games was it not? or 11 in 12 either way during that period his goals to game ratio was pretty high and the fact he was out for while as well and yet skippy struggled to overtake Sammys tally albeit he did in the end i think shows just how hot sammy was during that period

Totally disagree. Any fan i know was willing to give him a chance at start. In fact i can remember when he signed everyone was saying ignore what he was like at City, look at how good he was at Heerenveen (bringing up all these youtube clips) and how it made City shell out over £6m for him.

He was here on loan, did ok and got a contract. Now the general opinion seems to be 3 years later that on his day he can be very good but he simply doesn't do it anywhere near often enough. An opinion i agree with and by the looks of things the management have of him too. Any criticism he has got has been a result of his poor and inconsistent performances. Although i agree with u on the point that the criticism has done no one any favours cos he seems to be a confidence player

Thats Balls Mate sammy was given a chance he was on loan here for 6mnths prior to signing, his goal against killie proved he was a good player.

It's just a shame he never kept that going or he would not be in the final 6months of his contract.

He is not consistent enough for us, Now everyone has bad games it would be foolish not to admit that, but sammy is too hit and miss for us.WE NEED CONSISTANCY, and sammy is not that. I think we just need to move on.

    Well said that man. :50:

Part of the reason I've grown to be so * off with Samaras is that he obviously does have some talent. Any player that can score two goals like he scored at Rugby Park obviously has something in their locker. The point you made is the central point for me though.......he doesn't do it enough!

One good performance in 8 is just not acceptable and Samaras has let Celtic down on far too many occasions. I'm just sick and tired of it now and want him to leave.

I defend Sammy more than most and i thinke that he is an easy scapegoat, just like Murphy is now. There is a major difference between constructive criticism and unfairly singling a player out.

Every fan knows he can do it and if he leaves then i think he will do well with a fresh start.

all the best if you go sammy - the treatment he's got from some fans during his time here is shocking.

ahh ok. Well it's understandable on his view- he doesn't want to committ to not being in the team or being played wrongly at lw. we'll see

I think Lennon summed him up after the old firm game when he said, hes consistent and being inconsistent. Thers no doubt he has ability but as Harston said aswell does he have the hunger, sometimes you wonder with some of his performances. I would love it if he stayed and played the way he did against rangers every week but i cant see it happening.

sammy's situation is much like donati's was, played well in a number of games, but never, were either of them consistent on the pitch, like any other job in the world,if you cannot do it properly and constantly then there's the door.sad but true.
