Would be very happy for Samaras stay, I think he can contribute massively to the season ahead if we're sticking with one striker up front. He's a loyal player, loves the club, his attitude is spot on and can contribute a * of a lot when on form. If he's not starting, he gives us another option coming on from the bench, I see no reason to punt Samaras.

However, it may be best for Samaras if he was to turn down the contract offer. The support he has received at Celtic has been atrocious. I think a lot of people should be ashamed at themselves for the personal abuse they have dished out at games. The lack of respect the majority of Celtic fans have shown a man, who genuinely loves the club, is disgusting.

Whether fans think Samaras is good enough for Celtic or not, there's no denying that the fans have treated with a complete lack of respect. He's a confidence player (his agent and our management at the time confirmed this) and maybe he'll excel when another set of fans encourage him and get behind him, rather than slagging him off at every opportunity.

For our benefit, it would be good if he stayed but if Samaras wants what is best for himself, he should be turning down any contract offer.

I expect him to sign an extension though, as his love for the club is clear to see.

:50::50::50: Great post mate. I've been a Sammy supporter, then a Sammy hater and back to a Sammy supporter. He is an enigma, with bundles of talent but you cant deny that he is a class act who works his * off on the pitch and is a class act on and off the pitch. :shamrock:

We don't need someone with a similar cv.

Neither Gary Hooper or Anthony Stokes have cv's like that but they'll both score more goals for Celtic than Samantha will.

He's been treated disgustingly by so-called fans. I defy anyone to pick up a better striker than Samaras for the money we spent on him in fee and wages.

I wish we'd got to see what a confident samaras could have achieved at Celtic without 'supporters' making him a scapegoat.

Samaras is going nowhere. I'd lay money he'll sign a new contract soon. Not what I want to happen but it's what I think will happen.

    Broony!
If he managed to sort out his 'consistent inconsistency' I would keep him - but probably only play him in the lone striker role, a la 2nd.
No matter how much he's frustrated the life out of me at time, if he goes he does so with my best wishes - after all he did give us those 2 goals at the pit a few days ago!!!

Samaras has too Many inconsistent games, I think we should sell, vos what will happen is he gets a new three year deal and goes back to his old ways. Why can't we give him a 1 year deal and tell him if he plays like he did at ipox till the end of that contract then we will give him a longer contract . But if he doesn't them sell him . But I think sammy doesn't want a year contract cos he will have to work hard in every game and he doesn't like that. Sammy likes to hide during games or run into dead end positions. So if he isn't going to take a 1 year deal then SELL SELL SELL NOW !!!!!!!

If we don't punt him now, give him til end of the season to prove he is worth more than one year. No point in giving him more just because of 1 game, he needs to show he can do 8out of 10, not 1 in 20.
If he doesn't understand that, then I would cash in on him now
