I'm not convinced of his performance last night. Sammys been playing in the world cup, so he was alot sharper than everyone else. Also, i recall Sammy playing well in pre season last season, but turned out to be the same out flop.

We all know Sammy had a bad season last season but he showed against man utd that he is still hungry and still has the skill so i say 1 more chance because HE EARNED it but if he slips up again im afraid its time to go

personally i would get rid it was a subtle good performance when he came on but it was all the usual sammy head down and run around with the ball at your feet ,think people are forgeting he actualy tried to beat 3 players rather than pass to simon ferry ,he got hustled by 2 man utd players edge of the ball they went up the park and scored all because sammy was trying to take on man u himself ,selfish player and if anyone deserves 2nd chance it aint sammy .

i do rate him as i followed him since he was at man city and how he aint changed one bit he stills holds the ball too long and runs around on his own trying to beat players with his head down no change in over 5 years isnt good in terms of progress.

remember 2/3 seasons ago he was 3rd choice behind skippy and big jan and tbh i dont think anyone can say he now deserves to be our striker for the coming season especially after the last one.

I'd keep him. He is a good player and can properly change games for us. He is better playing slightly deeper or out on the left and if he can bring in 10-15 goals a season playing this position he is worth keeping. He is also a confidence palyer, with dramatic diffrences in how he plays depending on his confidence and it probably doesn't help him that he is made scapegoat for everything in our team, fans have never gave him a chance really and half the complaints on here seem to be about his * haircut.

Last night was a friendly guys.

Why is everyone getting carried away with a game, when most of the players on the park have no match fitness, carrying a few holiday pounds, the game was non-competative.

Samaras for the past few years has been turning up one in every 5 when the games where competative.

I gauruntee if a cash offer comes in, he will be for the off, the same way Fortune should be.

We need consistency this season, thats how a average Rangers side walked the league last year.

Thing is mate it seems to be his natural game to drop off. Even if he is played through the middle I doubt he will stay there long.

    Cos of last night?

    Exactly.

I remember reading an article in one of the broadsheets last year where he was described by a member of the backroom staff as the most naturally talented player at the club, but, that he is a player that relys on confidence and thrives on the kind of coach who puts his arm round a players shoulders.

He doesnt deserve a "second" chance, he deserves a decent run in the team

I have never been his biggest fan but I am def not one of the fans who groans everytime he * up.but if other players like brown odea and fortune are getting another chance then sammy should.only problem being if he stays and neil decides we play with 1 or2 upfront I can't see us signing the big name striker when we have sammy rass fortune and murphy

Amazing how a meaningless friendly, against a 2nd/3rd string unfit Man Utd team in America, being non-competative can change some peoples minds on Samaras.

The absolute bollocking he takes at times from the celtic support is unreal, then after last night "He deserves 1 last chance.... Deserves a run in the team..... Needs to be played in the middle!"

come on guys, as I said, along with Fortune, if you look at it like this, thats around £5M spent on 2 strikers, who are inconsistent beyond belief, over 6 foot tall, and cant play with their backs to goal, or bring the midfielders into the game, so they both have resorted to playing out wide.

Again, we need consistency, these guys dont deliver, and I personally think Lennon will be in the mould of MO'N where he wants a workman like consisten side, these guys do not fit that theory.

No 2nd chance, No run in the team, No playing through the middle, lets get cash in and free uo some wages (around £50 p/w between them) for 1 player who will deliver.

    Get rid

Half hour in pre-season, when he is much sharper and fitter than everyone else on the pitch, is not a just cause for a redemption.

He's a big-game bottler and is too lightweight and inconsistent.

    On your way son :bbpd:

So you would say his last 2 years at celtic Park warrant a fresh start at celtic....?

He is in the shop window over there mate, you have to remember, he will be match fit, he is just back from the wC, he continued training.

I cant believe soe guys at times, we all know there are some diddys at celtic, who also deserve to go, but this is a thread concerning Samaras. And your right, the same could be said about Fortune, Odea etc...

He's had his chances last year and clearly doesn't understand what it means to play for this great club. They say 1 swallow doesn't make a summer (I'm avoiding all other inuendo here), just like 1 good game doesn't make a good player.

    PUNT HIM!

The guys a lazy you no what, the only reason he played well last night is because he prob wants a new contract as he knows we are the only ones stupid enough to pay his ridicilous wages

Considering the "KeepHims" are outnumbering the "PuntHims" two to one, it's kinda striking the amount of noise that the "PuntHims" generate.

Never thought of myself as one of the "silent majority". :56:
