Yeah that's solely down to him not being here How did we do in Europe last year with him in the side? Got our * handed to us.

i don't even dislike the guy and wouldn't be against him coming back, just laughing at people telling other people they are talking * when all they've got to back up their belief is a fan site and a newspaper.

I think it's a lot more believable that Samaras has had decent offers that he has turned down or hasn't accepted yet than it is that no club is willing to take a punt on a free transfer for around 20k a week for a player who has scored goals in the CL and the world cup and is at his peak.

Your comment regarding if some * wanted him he would be there by now, by that logic nobody must want Eto'o because he is also still without a club.

 

We qualified, did we not? He was pivotal in qualifying last season and the season before and in our progression to the Round of 16. I'd rather a player of his quality and experience in Europe than any of the duds currently masquerading as Celtic forwards currently.

That's as good as anything we're going to get. Clubs rarely discuss unsuccessful offers.

And Ajax and away at Karagandy. I'm not saying there isn't some difference between Legia and Barca and Milan, but we still got humped. Sammy is replaceable from a footballing perspective, he isn't the sole reason we got beat off Legia.

 

We faired better in last years qualifiers than this years. Sammy was a big part of that.

He'd probably be worth his wages if he only performed to his maximum in those 6 games a year. He is annoying, no doubt, he also has his uses though.

 

He was good until he scored his hat trick at Kilmarnock then did next to * all for the rest of the season.

 

He scored 3 goals and assisted 3 in his last 5 games. Few of them were late subs aswell

 

He was in good form at the end of the season as well

 

So there was a gap of about 4 months where he did * all.

 

Not * all exactly but not up to his best.

Ajax and Karagandy aren't quite the same as we won the home games. We've never had a good record in the CL away from home.

He'd have given them something to think about at least. Legia contained us with embarrassing ease. Even those European teams that contained Sammy had to work * hard to do it.

Don't think he's the answer BTW. I think the answer is to keep pushing on with Deila's style until we can pull it off. Sammy doesn't move enough off the ball and slows play down too much for Deila's style IMO.

But I'd be lying if I said that, with the benefit of hindsight, I didn't wish we'd had him against Legia.
