He's always been a player with a great engine, bounds of energy and attacking flair.

It's amazing to see the difference in how styles and management types can alter players like Christie.

On this form Christie could become a fantastic player for us. Cement his place in the national team, and if he wishes in 3 more years get his big move to the EPL and leave with the fans blessings.

Christie was great when he played as an active and pressing midfielder. Lennon bizarrely told him to operate like a striker and crippled his game. He's ideal to Ange's style, and it's perfectly tailored to him. Wise move would be 2 or 3 year extension, on proper wages and go in 1 or 1.5 seasons for a proper move. Stick about a £15M release clause in, so he can go if it's worth it to him

Ken, I’ve battered him from pillar to post after last season and I’ve been a * idiot. Sign that new deal big man, become a legend

I still think he goes. Same agent as Armstrong. He knows the riches awaiting in England.

Armstrong's on £40k a week at Southampton and Christie's a better player. We can't/won't match that.

As much as he done my nut in last season he seems to have had a new lease of life under Ange. A contract extension would be magic at this point.

Absolute joy to watch when he's playing this style of football. No brainer to give him a bumper contract if he has any intention of staying, would be like a £10m signing

Is there the interest off those side's like he expected..

Only really Burnley I've seen him linked with..

Alright us saying it but if he signed a new deal, gave us a really good season at a high level, he'll get that big money move and everybody wins..

I'd be tempted to offer him close to 30. Manager has already said he's perfect for his style. Losing him for free would be a nightmare..

Starting to think his form was down to Lennon now last season. Or he really is pushing himself to get a decent move. Different player today, back to his very best.

I’d rattle down a substantial contract. We need players like him this season. We simply don’t have time to look for a replacement.

It’s time to gamble. Sign him on a big contract and if it goes well we can always let him go next summer. Even in a bad scenario we can let him go for a nominal fee if we want to release the wages. We’re losing him for nothing anyway and we’d need to spend £6m+ to replace him.

    Step up McKay.

Problem at this stage isn't even just the basic wage, his agent could probably engineer a decent 7-figure signing-on fee into the equation as well.

I think he sees out the last 5 months of his contract and cashes in big stacks in January.

If he fills the remaining months with performances like today, I'd take that over a nominal transfer fee.

    Aye he holds every ace..

I agree totally with that last bit mate. Would rather keep him til it expires, as long as he carries on this form and doesn't down tool's..

Ange seems to have revved him up somehow, whether that's because he's buying into the project and wants to be a part of it or because he's been told it's the best way to propel his next move remains to be seen.

On this form he's an asset though and I don't see how we replace his goals & assists at short notice.
