I read in a paper that we are preparing a 1 million bid for bellamy! no chance of that getting accepted.
Ive also read about stories linking us with chris kirkland

1 million, what a joke. Offering this not only shows our lack of funds but I think it also shows total disrespect towards Bellamy himself.

That must be a windup. Even the reported 5 or 6 million that Newcastle are after for him is decent business. If we can't afford him then why not come out and just say it rather than keep all the players and fans waiting for an answer. Can't believe how frustating this whole thing is getting.

All we need to do is come up with the 5 or 6 mill because bellamy says he wants to stay

Is it not a one year loan deal for £1m?

I could not really see us putting a loan offer in for him

It really is a sad state of affairs when a team as big as us can not afford a mere 6 million that any club in the EPL would laugh over.

Celtic boss Gordon Strachan and Fulham chief Chris Coleman were both reported to be planning to do their business at the double this week - with Norwich City figuring large in their thoughts.

According to reports north of the border over the weekend, Strachan was busily plotting a raid for both City goalkeeper Robert Green and star forward Darren Huckerby as he moves swiftly to stamp his mark on Parkhead following Martin O'Neill's exit to tend to his stricken wife.

Coleman, meanwhile, was trying to steal Charlton's thunder by embarking on an ambitious £5 million double swoop - first whipping Norwich midfielder Damien Francis out of Alan Curbishley's hands before returning to The Valley for unhappy Addicks defender Paul Konchesky.

Carrow Road sources today insisted it had been all quiet with the phone barely ringing at the weekend.

Strachan's interest in Huckerby makes sense only in the fact that the Canary favourite was a smash hit for the new Celtic chief in their days at Coventry City together. The player himself, however, made it clear before Norwich's penultimate game of the season at home to Birmingham City that he had no intention whatsoever of moving on - which ever division the Canaries ended up in.

    Huckerby is here to stay.

“I've got two seasons left and there's no doubt that I will be here for those two seasons,” said City's Player of the Season, leaving no room for doubt. It doesn't matter who comes in, it won't interest me at all,” he added.

As for talk of Green going to Celtic, Rab Douglas' departure to Leicester City this summer has left Strachan linked to virtually every half-decent goalkeeper going with other Scottish newspapers suggesting that it was actually Liverpool's injury-plagued Chris Kirkland that was Parkhead-bound. Equally, Strachan's former Southampton keeper Antti Niemi has long been seen as a nailed on certainty for a Strachan reunion after the accomplished Finn enjoyed the better part of three years in the Scottish premier League with Hearts.

Whether a move north would appeal to Green himself is equally doubtful given that his No1 priority is keeping himself within Sven-Goran Eriksson's vision ahead of the 2006 World Cup finals.

The Swede barely takes note of the Championship, let alone the SPL with the only potential carrot being a long and arduous Champions League qualifying campaign - albeit with the prospect of big stage at the end of it should the Bhoys make it beyond the third and crucial qualifying round.

Re the above, I would be pretty chuffed if we signed the lad Green but would Huckerby be a good move?? I've not seen that much of him but from what I know it doesn't exactly get my blood pumping.

I saw on keep-the-faith.net that we are looking at 3 Polish lads - Maciej Zurawski, Marcin Baszczynski and Tomasz Klos (great surname, NOT!!) Anyone know much about these targets?

Not too sure bout the poles, think Zurowskis the left midfielder, strong lad. Wouldnt go for Huckerby, has Francis left them, he would be the perfect midfielder.

I would make a move quciker for Dean Ashton than I would Huckerby

We should've been quicker to move for Dean Ashton before Norwich did a few months ago i thought.

Huckerby is alright though, i think he would do a job in the SPL like he did in the Championship to get Norwich into the Premiership but i think the Celtic board need to be putting their money where their mouth is if they want to take bigger strides into Europe where all the big money is, we can't do that if the Board aren't willing to take a risk and buying some quality players.

Steed Malbranque is a quality player and would hook up well with Stan. Can't see it happening though a lot of premership clubs will be after him

I really can't see that being true, we would have heard something about it by now.

I've heard about 3 times today that on Friday 2 signings will be made - Craig Bellamy and Steven Whittaker from Hibs.
Any one know if this is true ?
