There's a video of him from a parade either after the CL or after La Liga last year when he gives a speech to thousands of people and you can tell he's completely shitfaced. He's so diminutive and never talks in public so the change in character was completely hilarious.

For once big Gerry talked some sense tonight other than his usual *, messi is streets ahead of any other player on the planet.

 

Messi was fantastic tonight. He's in top shape now, right in time for both Barca and Argentina.

 

I might have answered before but I think messi now that I think of it. I think he will go down as one of the best ever in the world whereas rooney might go down as one of the best ever englishmen which obviously isnt as big and I dont think ronaldo has hit the heights of that mad season he had 2 or 3 years ago

rooneys still young though , if messi keeps this form for another 2 or 3 years he could go down as the greatest ever ahead of maradona and pele but id like to see him in the EPL to see how gets on against better defences

im not comparing them , im talking about rooney not messi , messi's untouchable im saying rooneys got years ahead of him to establish himself as one of the best players ever ie best , charlton ,

 

The incredible thing is that Rooney looks like he's carrying weight but he can happily sprint with the best of them and has the energy and work rate of anyone you care to mention.

They are 3 talented players who play very differently but do achieve similar results when used right but on the international stage, the 3 of them havent delivered, not to the level of Maradona, Cryuff, Pele & co. They all just seem slightly better than the rest as internationals but if are to be the great player, you shine at this level and transcend all team and management weaknesses. It is very hard to guess who will achieve this imo
