    However, the lyrics "England you're a monster" is going to have a negative effect on the whole thing. It'll * people off from England, and if the Scottish government changes the bill they'll get accused of being anti-English.

    It's a clear attack on the state, not the English people. If you're not allowed to speak out against the actions of a state, what does that say about civil liberties in this country?

    Besides, I'm sure people will be more offended that the song is about Irish political prisoners.

    The Scottish national anthem glorifies victories against the English in battle. The English national anthem talks of crushing rebellious Scots.

    So I'll ask you again, is it just Irish songs of struggle that bring reputations down?
