The mentality is good in getting us to the CL.. but getting smashed in Europe has definitely affected our confidence.

Wish people would * give up with this we've only lost 2 games pish, we have been brutal in the league, not sure if everyone is 15 on here and playing fortnite on their ps4s, as I remeber sitting in the stands watch Celtic draw their way to losing the league under Tommy B.

I cannot for the life of me say we can lose the league, but in all honesty , we are playing pish at the business end of the league, and even more brutal Rangers look far more capable at this very moment. Im making the assumption out of europe will kick us off again, and expect 3 wins in a row and order resumed.

Hard to argue with any of that and good point re Tommy Burns losing only once yet losing the league because of daft draws.

There's a malaise that's set in the club for a few months now, Rodgers needs to shake it off and get the team ticking again.

That's fine, you keep comparing the club to where we were in the 90s with the club on its knees and had to compete with a doped up Huns team - I'll keep comparing us to where we were 2/3 years ago when we were humped out of the Europa with NO wins and about the same distance ahead in the league with no huns in it and no chance of a treble.

We've improved since then, on both counts. We can do back to back trebles and people are questioning the manager, it's crazy.

Obviously I'm not comparing him to Deila - Rodgers is a far better manager than him. I wasn't just pointing out that at the same stage in the Europa league Ronny's team, with inferior players, put up a better fight against a team that was at least as good if not better than Zenit.

Rodgers has a problem motivating his players and in terms of setting the team up in Europe he seems to never learn from his mistakes. It's been the same since he was Liverpool manager

Is he ? Lenny and WGS both took us into the last 16 of the CL.

Bottom line is he needs to adapt, I'm sure he is smart enough to see that and act accordingly. As for BR getting away with it not sure you are right on that although there will be some people saying it's the board who aren't backing him with sufficient money - totally ignoring what BR has been saying himself about the board, I wonder if they realise that by saying this they are effectively making out that BR is basically a yes man who will do as the board tell him, as that is * embarrassing.

I remember BR saying that he'd rather go out and try win the game by playing the same style of football and not parking the bus, against any opposition. There's admiration and then there's stubbornness. I respect that the teams we've come up against in the Group Stages are elite spenders, but it hurts me getting beat by big margins. Teams similar to our level comfortably beat us, and I just don't get it.

Recruitment is a shambles, biscuit tin needs to be opened.

I think we have improved versus 2015-16 but pretty much in line with 2014-15

Compared to the 2014-15 season at this point I think we have less points in the league now than then. We won the league cup and we were still in the scottish cup only to blow it (and get pretty unlucky as well) in the semi. We lost at the same stage of the europa cup, only this time we managed to make a fortune getting pumped in the champions league rather than qualifying through the europa group.

Of course if we win the treble this year it is a better season overall, but at this stage we are hardly miles ahead. Yet Rodgers has the image of a hero and Deila is considered a bit of a diddy. Im not especially negative on this season overall but I thinking many fans are seeing progress that I dont really see.

We fold under any type of pressure, just not good enough for even that level of the Europa.

That's complete pish.. are you seriously trying to compare BR to Ronny?

There was also no Huns, Hearts or Hibs in the league. It was literally us against the sheep and even then Ronny struggled.

You can't just discount CL qualification 2/2 just because we got pumped in the group this season yet still managed to qualify.

Ronny was a low risk cheap option who lost a semi to one of the poorest Hun teams in history. That BR absolutely slaughtered last season.

Its not just Europe where we are playing *,its seems to be the majority of games we play be it Europe of domestically.
Difference is in Europe we get punished for it so as fans we tend to discuss it more.

We have been really poor for a while now and i fear we may be in for a rough time against Aberdeen.I hope Rodgers can sort this out quickly.

I have asked this question on another thread Has Rodgers taken this team as far as he can?has he lost the influence he had on the team?are they no longer responding to Rodgers?

Iv never been a fan of Rodgers(never liked his always attack style)but i think we are lucky to have manager of his calibre with us in Scotland and i think he,s a good man to have at our club(despite my personal opinion of him as a manager).

    Rodgers' record in Europe:
    Played 26, Won 9, Drawn 5, Lost 12, Scored 36, Conceded 48.
We've won 5 games by 3 or more goals and lost 5 games by 3 or more goals.

It looks like he is doing as expected; mostly we win the games against teams worse than us, trade wins with teams around our level and get beaten by teams better than us. I think the difficulty for us lies in setting up a team to dominate in the SPL who can then go out and be tight against the better teams in Europe.

I wasnt talking about results!im talking about performances on the pitch, and lets be honest we are way ahead the other clubs in the league and we will lose very few games regardless of whos in charge.
And just to be clear(in case you didnt understand the post)it was a question i asked an not something i thought had happened.
If you think no he has not fine.

If he does back to back trebles i dont care what anyone else thinks ..he'll be * to me one of them an invincible too..its a very hard thing to do to sustain that level of winning clean sweep trophies.

look as i have said a 1001 times...

Celtic are happy to get the UCL and then hold up the balance sheet thats it.

In relative terms we are a small team in European competition in todays market, the current theme will continue until such times as we leave the SPFL.

Nobody remembers losers and in rodgers we have a winner of a manager still undefeated in 8 old firm games too alright europe can improve but we say the same every year when it comes to european football were never going to win either competition anyway...still well on course to achieve our goals this term.
