Im not writing Tillio off but it does beg a question on were generally agreeing he's a project, how couldn't Vata or one of our other youth fill that Project role in the squad.

Benefits us loads to have a talent factory, we make more money as there's far less initial investment in signing them and it helps us for quota. Works for all the usual names, Ajax, Saltzburg, Benfica, etc how no us?

Celtic have booted out a six-figure bid from Nottingham Forest for highly-rated forward Rocco Vata.

And Parkhead chiefs are now set to offer the 18-year-old a new deal in a bid to fend off more interest - with the Republic of Ireland youth cap is out of contract next summer.

The 18-year-old, son of former Hoops defender Rudi, made his breakthrough with four top team appearances last season after impressing for the B team in the Lowland League.

Forest - where former Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson is now chief football officer - had identified Vata as one for the future at the Premier League club.

Italian side Torino and Belgian side Club Brugge were also keen on the teen.

But Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is a fan and moved the academy graduate back into his top-team squad this summer to chart his progress.

    Set to offer :56:

He’s been sounded out already and rebuffed it, that’s why he’s changed Agents and there’s genuine interest from elsewhere.

If he doesn’t leave tomorrow it’s a guarantee he’s off in Jan.

Sun saying we want to turn him into a striker

CELTIC have turned down a six-figure bid from Nottingham Forest for teenager Rocco Vata.

The youngster has been targeted by three Italian sides - but Forest made contact earlier this week with a concrete bid, which Celtic immediately turned down.

They now intend to sit down with the 18-year-old to tie him down on a new deal.

His Parkhead contract is due to expire next summer - but as it stands he would be able to discuss a summer move in January.

The Republic of Ireland youth international made four sub appearances under Ange Postecogloulast season and he was included in the club’s Asian pre-season trip - but he’s yet to be involved with the first team this season.

It’s understood that Celtic have plans to convert him from a wide player to a role as a more central striker.

Would be sad to see him go, would much rather we invested some game time in him than the likes of James Forrest.

Talk of converting him to a striker I find really odd.

Develop and train him for years to play and understand a certain position and then go "* it" - you'd be great as a striker (or maybe even in goals!!!)

I reckon it’s all bullshit and just our hopes to entice him to stay….
We have kyogo and Oh in the striker choices so he’d be third in line potentially. Whereas wingers he’s about 347th down the line

He has made the shift though and has been playing as the striker for the B team, not just a carrot to dangle with the first

Just shows 19's getting on a bit for breaking through with us.

If Vata stays would be surprised if he ever gets a full 90mins in the league.

Can’t remember which thread or which poster posted it the other day…but someone mentioned the point where if we went all in and believed in vata as a direct replacement for jota; there’d have been uproar about us penny pinching and regressing.

Which is so true and where the issue lies with us and youth development. The benficas, ajax, feyenoord, psv etc sell big then just throw a youth player in at the deep end. And somehow end up with another £15 mil+ player, rinse and repeat! Haha maybe we just overhype our youths and they’re not actually that good. Surely rodgers, ange, Lennon (to some extent) can see when a player is a player. And recently we just haven’t had those youths. Although ange did start doak tbf to him

Don't think it was me but I've posted similar before. Would like to see us invest and play our younger players in the first team.

Would encourage other developing players to join or stay with us, and also allow us to focus our spend on fewer higher quality players.

I hope to * he has the right attitude now because he could very well be an asset as a forward up to January. His finishing is superb, it sticks out like a sore thumb in the B side.
