It's a good question. I love watching the B games and would probably attend some youth games if I lived in Glasgow, but it must be a tad soul destroying for the young bhoys when they can't see a pathway into the first team and don't get to play enough regular quality games to enhance their skills and thus prospects of getting into the first team.

It's a problem for the entire Scottish league system with (obviously) money as the only answer.

Agree on that point, but so so many boys that play for our youths then go on to make a career for themselves elsewhere so in that regard we’re at least supplying the wider Scottish game with players and sometimes the lower leagues in england

We should never be letting our top prospects get to a year left at his age. We have done it with a few, well Karamoko we did.

Don’t know who’s in charge of securing contracts for the youth players now, but we need to up our game.

Torino want to sign Celtic youngster Rocco Vata.

The Serie A cracks are keen to do a deal for the Republic of Ireland youth international.

The talented teenager is going into the final year of his contract and is attracting strong English and European interest.

Italian sources have confirmed that the 18-year-old is very much on the radar of Torino.

It now remains to be seen if Celtic will look to cash in this summer.

It all depends if there is going to be a regular pathway to first-team football.

Vata made his debut under Ange Postecoglou but has found himself back on the fringes under Brendan Rodgers.

The young attacker was a standout again for Celtic B team today as he scored a brace in a 5-0 win over Gala Fairydean in the Lowland League.

Recent rules changes also meant that Vata, who is Scottish-born, won't need to take up a non-EU slot in Serie A.

If Lowry can go straight in to the diet side then Vata and Summers can easily get food top flight loans..

I don’t see the hype with him a few others do everyone said the same with Karamoko and he’s been pish tbh. If he was good enough he’d be playing week in week out. Whose place does he take we have about a million wingers as someone once said.

Young players probably now seeing Italy as a solid move tbh.

Probably, in fact definitely more attractive than a top flight loan here with no guarantee of coming back here and playing.

If he wants to go, let him. By the sounds of it he has been getting touted about for a while looking for a move.

If it doesn’t happen now he will walk for free next year.

Absolute shame to see he's likely off.

The fact we don't give youth a fair chance is a real shame as well.

This will continue to happen year after year now.

Your Tierney, McGregor, Forrest type players making it in to the first team are becoming major anomalies now.

Our development structure is none existent for the clubs benefit.

    Almost pointless.

Majority of our fans would go ballistic if the likes of Vata were given a meaningful place in the first team squad. There's simply no way these boys will ever get the time to develop at Celtic, unless they're obvious big talents like KT.

The biggest issue IMHO is there is no place for us to play our promising younger players that can really help bridge the gap between playing at the first team level and coming from the academy level. The B team playing in the highland league simply isn't good enough. There is absolutely no question IMHO the answer is letting us play a B team in the actual league with the provision that they cannot get promoted higher then the second tier. But until something along those lines happens we are going to struggle to be able to bridge the gap to the first team for our more promising young players.

That's where the B team is a shambles if they make 5 (I think) first team apps then they can no longer play in the B team which is utterly pointless. The only path to our first team from the youth team at the moment is to go out on loan

A loan with guaranteed game time is his best option, be it abroad or down south or even within the Scottish Prem.

His finishing is dynamite he just needs games to progress now. Going to Serie A is a massive gamble with next to no game time under his belt the others that have went were first picks or first team squad players for seasons before they made the jump.

All true James but even then, if they go out and have a great loan period somewhere and come back ready for the first team...a lot of * will jump on them if they don't immediately start putting 8's and 9's performances.

Everyone wants high calibre players for the 1st eleven, and proven quality like Abada or O'Riley as backup. The likes of Vata will be chased to *, loan spell or no loan spell.

That’s kind of the issue. These players aren’t being given the game time when required so they stagnate or they move.

Vata will be another Ben Doak, not another Dembele. We will really regret letting him go.
