The question isn't 'is Dunne past it?' - it's 'would Dunne improve our central defence?'

For me, the answer to the second question is yes; so it doesn't matter what the answer to the first one is. He'd improve it with his playing abilities, but also (and more importantly) with his experience.

    Why? It has happened before.

I'd prefer to get him in on the same wage as other top earners if possible, like Scott Brown who are on 30k I think? The lure of CL action might also entice him.

His performances for Ireland in big Euro and World Cup Qualifiers seemed to get the best out of him, and he obviously got a kick out of it.

I know its happened before but it has also back fired before remember, Keane, Gravesan. For a start Dunne will have to at least half his wage too come here, and if its one thing football players dont do is half their wages. Some over estimate CL football, if a football player is offered 25k extra a week or 6 CL games Im pretty sure I know what he will choose.

Im not saying it wont happen but I would be very surprised mate.

Well I wouldn't be a bit surprised if this happened, given examples of signings from recent times.

How did it backfire with Keane? I take it you mean Roy Keane? He came here for 6 months and then retired. Celtic got publicity and sold shirts etc..

With Dunne I think we could get 2 years CL level service from him as well as selling a few shirts. Dunne isn't finished yet, he has looked after himself well, we'll get a couple of years out of him if we signed him.

Yeah mate I meant Roy but in saying that Robbies stint wasn't exactly a great success either, in saying that it was not his fault.

Im not saying Dunne is finished far from it, Im just saying hes not exactly Roy or Robbie Keane and Im not sure I want Celtic to sign him like a circus act like those two were either. I am saying I think his wages would be a stumbling block. If Celtic get the deal Dunne:icon_mrgreen: fairplay but I just dont see it.

This guy is about as mobile as a 60 stone cripple in a broken down mobility jeep.

    Pass, please.

He's as fast as Kelvin Wilson who would be faster than Mulgrew and Rogne

There is absolutely no chance Dunne is anything like as quick as Wilson.

Richard Dunne is a fast runner and I've seen him catch faster players that Kelvin Wilson has ever had to chase.

Have you looked at his age and came to that conclusion?

Richard Dunne is plenty fast enough. He is a massive unit but he moves it about the park very quickly.

Being slow has never been a criticism aimed at him.

When was the last time you saw, Dunne, Ho? He's still a strong defender, and is not lacking physically in any way.
