It's a * joke that the dutch police can disguise themselves as hooligans in order to catch people out especially since our fans had been attacked by actual hooligans the night before, of course our fans would have attacked them if they thought they were hooligans.

    You're probably right.

Celtic taking on the dutch courts for say corruption and right to a fair trial would be priceless though :56:

The following article is from the daily rager

"FIVE Celtic fans have been handed jail terms for attacking Dutch police in Amsterdam.
Damian Dobbin, 23, Thomas Kennedy, 30, Jozef Macpherson, 20, Andrew Vance, 21, and
28-year-old Padraig Mullan were all found guilty of separate charges of attacking police in the city’s Dam Square before the Ajax game on November 6.
John Quigley, 49, from Kilmarnock, was acquitted of all charges as the six men appeared at a district court in Amsterdam.
Mullan, from Belfast, received two months minus time already served after he was found guilty of repeatedly punching an undercover officer.
Dobbin, from Hamilton, was also given two months after being found guilty of punching an officer.
Macpherson, from Glasgow, was convicted of holding an officer by the neck and given one month.
Vance, of Blantyre, and Kennedy, from Lanarkshire, were both convicted of throwing a can at officers and received six weeks each.
Vance’s time will be discounted due to time served.
The five men convicted of the offences are all appealing the verdicts. Three of the men were released on bail while Mullen and Vance will be freed in the morning.
They are due to return in a fortnight to begin their appeal trial although it could take up to a year for the cases to finally come to court.
All five will be jailed if their appeals fail.
Video footage showed the ugly scenes which kicked off in Dam Square hours before kick off.
Police claimed their officers were attacked but Celtic fans said Dutch hooligans and heavy-handed police were at the root of the violence."

Absolute disgrace. Wonder what will happen when Barcelona go to Ajax next week. Will they try and set up the Barcelona fans.
Hope they try it and Barcelona fans kick * out of the lot of them.

@Voetbaladvocaat: Warning for people visiting Ajax - FC Barcelona! Police boss Pronker claims they will use the same tactics as on the Celtic fans.

Unlikely as the dutch police will make much better hooligans than Barcas best could even aspire to be.

Gutted to heart this. Was at the Dam on the moment this all happend. Everybody thought Ajax fans were heating things up but after a while we noticed it weren't Ajax fans but the 'real hooligans' .... police in plain clothes. Complete shame.
Not the first time I heared about their bad reputation but this time I could see it with me own eyes. Last time I spend a penny in Amsterdam !

More likely to ban them from Celtic Park than anything else. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

cant ban them from Celtic Park.UEFA rules mean that Celtic must give them an allocation. The only thing Celtic can do is get the names of the ajax supporters who attended last time and let Ajax know that those particular fans are banned from Celtic park.
Any trouble from that point and Ajax would be in deep * and deservedly so.

I wasn't talking about Ajax fans, not interested in them. I was talking about the Celtic fans who have been found guilty.

Is there any evidence of Police kicking down someone's door in the early hours of the morning purely for singing a song?

If so I'd like to see it because I've been singing the same songs, in the same places, for over 10 years and I've never had it happen to me.

I don’t think anyone has actually had their door booted down, it’s more a turn of phrase. Numerous fans have had the police turn up at their door first thing in the morning – 6/7am - to take them into custody under the offensive behaviour bill for a song they have sang as well as turn up at their workplace. Also, waiting for someone at the airport coming home from holiday for a supposed offensive banner.

So in other words, stating folk have had their door kicked down in the early hours of the morning for singing a song is pure hyperbole?

Probably so. Knocking folk up at 6/7am, going to their workplace or waiting for them at an airport coming home from holiday for singing a song or holding up a banner is as absurd enough as it is.

i posted this in another thread on the 16th... the decision by the court comes as no surprise. Those convicted should waste no further time in filing their own charges against the men involved and add malicious prosecution charge to their rights violations ... and file for big damages.

If the court had seen this it wouldn't have helped the situation at all.
