That is fair comment. What happened in Amsterdam certainly does give a sense of perspective on how we are treated here. Although it's not perfect at least you know you can go to a game without worrying about the police kicking your head in for next to nothing.

I'm not sure you have had too much dealing with the police in this country Hammer... they might not do what the Dutch police did but you can beat your baws that once they're in the van they're getting took to a wee secluded area.

Tell that to the guy who's getting his front door kicked in an early morning raid for singing a song. The same guy who's job and livelihood is in jeopardy because of a police force and government who want to 'even things up'.

Both examples, in Scotland and the Netherlands, are disgusting.

No one in Scotland has ever had their front door kicked in, in an early morning raid, for singing a song.

    Pure hyperbole.

When they get the warrant from the judge they do usually come flying through the door. Maybe not at 4am in the morning but they don't bother ringing the door bell :smiley-laughing002:

You've saw that sort of behaviour before then? Because I know I saw it far too many times, usually when we were growing up. One of my mates got a few broken ribs and a detached retina socket for his troubles (he was sitting in a park)

    ..... yes, they have.

You must believe the reports of organisations like FAC and the like to be all lies then?!

As I mentioned, trying to use the scandalous conduct of the Dutch police and judicial system to dilute the actions of their counterparts in Scotland is madness.

kind of off topic here but just seen this, some crimes people have commited:47:

Stuart Hunt of Loch Ness brought to court 100 times since 2007 for breaching an ASBO preventing him from laughing, staring or slow hand clapping.
Homeless, alcoholic and mentally ill Michael Gilligan given a 99 year ASBO rather than the welfare support that might have made a difference
A profoundly deaf 17 year old girl given an ASBO and a jail sentence for spitting in the street
A 13 year old banned from using the word ‘grass’ in England or Wales
Manchester Council applied an ASBO to prevent a mobile soup kitchen from feeding the homeless
Councils placing ASBOs on homeless people resulting in prison sentences for begging ‘earnestly and humbly’
An 87 year old man was given an ASBO threatening a prison sentence if he was sarcastic to his neighbours.

what the * is wrong with this country.

Cops in Amsterdam are as bad as Cops in Scotland and the Dutch Criminal & Justice system is as corrupt as the system in Scotland and any other country around the world.:38:

Look this has all been about 'the easy target' mate, it happens at ALL Celtic games but some of our fans are only taking this on board as this has become high profile.

You're mad if you think the cops let off those guys. They ran away after the incident yeah, but I am pretty sure they were all just young guys no older than 25 * on coke and alcohol. They probably all got arrested for * on a lamppost later that night or something.

We never heard about the Parkhead seat-chuckers but I can guarantee you they got filmed by Strathclyde's finest, had their details passed to Dutch PD and had their doors kicked early one morning. They're probably sharing the same cell as those 5 Celtic fans right now infact.

Some of you are taking things way too personal. There is no Europe-wide anti-Celtic initiative which has been sent out from Holyrood by Salmond.

Just heard the news. Disgusted. As some have mentioned, although personally I have no relation to those convicted I felt genuine pain and anger when I found out, much as if it had happened to a family member. I have'nt found the time to properly post on my experience over there so will attempt to do so now.

Firstly, after being in Dam Sq and seeing the actions of both undercover and uniformed officers I would say that any actions taken against the police by Celtic fans or indeed members of the public were completely justified as a matter of self-defence. Those who were there will know that it certainly was not a case of a sort of *-for-tat battle but infact a full scale military style assault by heavily armed thugs. Anyone, Celtic fan or not that condems the response from our bhoys need only ask themselves how they woulf respond if their closest friend or family member was battoned to the ground and then charged at by cops wielding German Shepherd dogs with their snarling mouths agape, ready to bite. Would you just turn a blind eye? Or would you do anything you could to get that person out of that situation? It was probably my proudest moment as a Celtic fan to stand alongside fellow tims putting their own safety on the line to defend people they may never have even met. The unity, at least where I was, was incredible, something I'll never forget.

I fully believe that those who were arrested were simply those unlucky enough to be targetted by the screws. They couldnt justify that level of police operation without making arrests. By reports, they picked on easy targets, those separated from the bulk of the support.

I've had a few drinks tonight so starting to lose the structure of this post slightly. All's left to say is that I hope Celtic as a unit can come together and support these guys. I wont hold my breath for decent action from the PLC but it will sadden me immensely if the Celtic support do not unite in defence of these lads. Hope to get a banner made up for the Milan game.

United we stand, divided we fall.
