Thought he was fine. Passing was on point, nice we 1 touch movements. Just nothing overly fancy. Ran his heart out and then his lungs ran out :56: he's a player. Get him on some of meadas medication and he'll be flying :fear:

Thought he was okay yesterday, just a bit ineffective and looked gassed. Did the simple things well and worked really hard off the ball. He definitely still needs time.

He looks absolutely shattered, needs a bit of a rest and we have the midfielders now to grant him rest.

Thought he was good first half, very energetic and played a big part in the first goal by picking up the loose ball and having a go from the edge of the box.

He tired badly second half but that is why we have the squad there. It is still actually a position I would really like another option who is a physical machine (a midfield Maeda engine).

They would almost be an Armstrong 16/17 type who chips in with a good number of goals but is solid enough defensively too. I feel Turnbull, Rogic and ORiley are all quite similar in being better on the ball than off it and creative types, where as Hatate and McGregor are the only two really suited to that slightly deeper role. Either that or a different 6 so McGregor can be used at the 8 too.

However where we have come from is night and day this is just fine tuning.

He played well, but he was absolutely knackered.

Long season or not a player can't be on the park when he's no energy left to run.

Watching it back...thought he was very poor for the Ramsay goal. Was marking him then didn't bother to track his run for whatever reason. Even Taylor got frustrated with him at times. Still no doubts about his quality though. He's a very talented player and if he settles into life here and builds his fitness then he will be a key component in the midfield next season.

Also loved the huns going briefly silent when he hit that shot in the lead up to the goal. He's given them ptsd :giggle1:

Not the best of late, and certainly needs a little bit of cotton wool treatment in my opinion until we get him fully up to speed and rested/recharged for next season, but... And I hate doing this, I have to give credit to Ramsay for the experienced head he used to make his space for the goal. He made about 5yards of space by his movement. May not have fitness, stamina and ability to stay injury free anymore, but foolish to suggest he can't catch out players with his experience and read of the game.

No point pointing fingers about an early blip, when we recovered from it so well

Need to remmeber hes just off the back of a full league campaign which he went all the way to the cup final in that league. Mawda is naturally an athlete and had more time to rest after the jleague season . Think we will see the real first few games hatate at the start of next season

He looked absolutely spent just before he went off, struggled to chase back. Dont think he has had a break as the Japanese league started way before ours. Its maybe why Kyogo picked up his injury. We have players back now that we can afford to rest him, but would like to see him back for the Semi Final.

True. I dont really agree with the Ramsay bit though. Thought it was a standard late run into the box that id expect players at any level to be wary of and try to close down. Reo was caught out sleeping like that quite a bit when he was playing left back at Kawasaki. But no damage done and he'll learn from that. :shamrock:

I thought he didn’t play well.

I rewatched the game and he done a * of a lot that went unnoticed on the ball.

Apparently he played for Japan in the Olympics so has been playing football without a break for something like 20 months

Some time off in the summer and a full preseason should do him the world of good.

He was good on the ball at passing and jinking past men and keeping possession but he didn't look like he had the legs to run around, seemed tired and the second half you were wanting him subbed as soon as possible.

I still don't understand how he generated so much power. Defies the laws of physics.

When is the other Japanese midfielder we signed going to get a wee run out?? I know its no time of the season to be experimenting with players and formations. But it seems players like Hatate need a rest and we've got Ideguchi and McCarthy who both play the same position. At least when we've got games well won we should be looking to bringing on these two to save the legs of players like Hatate

    Running on empty.

Now us the time to rest him up, before his body decides an oul long term muscle injury looks like a goer.

Can see him being phenomenal next year.

For now, we have enough bodies to get the job done.

(Keep him on the bench for der hun though, fella is a lucky charm)
