Brendan Rodgers has confirmed Reo Hatate faces a number of weeks out after suffering a fresh hamstring injury.

The Japanese midfielder looked distraught as he trudged off the park just seven minutes into Wednesday night's Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid. Hatate was visibly upset as Rodgers consoled him on the touchline, with Paulo Bernardo replacing him.

Hatate, 25, had only recently recovered from a hamstring injury sustained in August against Aberdeen and was beginning to find his form after a sluggish start to the campaign. But speaking ahead of tomorrow's clash with Hibs, boss Rodgers has confirmed the playmaker faces another spell on the sidelines in an injury he described as a "bad one".

It is the other hamstring from the one that went around April last year in the game against Hibs I think it was. As another poster mentioned I believe it was his calf that went against Aberdeen at the start of the season.

For sure you could tell from his reaction at the time that he knew that this was not going to be a minor tweak. Having said that given Rodgers said "a few weeks" if with the international break to come next month he is back after that then its not terrible.
