I've never said this before about a Celtic game, but I kind of agree with you. I view this as nothing more than an unnecessary distraction right now, when we should just be focusing on regaining the league title. There's no denying the fact that we've been * poor for the majority of this season and this will do nothing more than hamper the players' fitness and perhaps their confidence, if we get beat again.

I'd like to see some more youngsters given a chance on Thursday night, Toshney and Twardzik for example. I know I've already posted a team that I'd like to see in here, but my mind keeps changing, as we should be making the league the priority and resting some of the bigger name players.

The problem with playing youngsters is that we could receive a very bad beating by Rennes and that would be a killer for the club.

Exactly, the last thing we need on thursday is a heavy defeat, the players have little or no confidence as it is.

No point * around in this diddy cup when there are more important games coming up

sunday next week, will be another big test after coming back from France
so we must play youngsters as to keep the useless pros rested as if they play in Rennes they will be exhausted come 3 bells sunday

i say this again the tourney can go * itself

It's the perfect opportunity to grab an away win against quality opposition and establish winning mentality. Allez les Hoops.

Agreed. Being reinstated into this competition has been a harsh lesson and gives us a rough assessment of our team's depth and the limits to their ability. I do reckon we have the players to win a league championship (or more), but while managing to negotiate a European campaign? Really not sure.

Could somebody please clear up for me whether Rogne is registered for Europe, after the last game against Udinese when he wasn't on the bench somebody said he wasn't, I know you only are allowed a certain amount of players in your squad by UEFA (18 I think) and then the rest of your team has to be made up of players who have been involved with your academy and youngsters who have been trained in this country (Slane was count through this).

Weird thread, can't believe folk can't be annoyed. I'd watch Celtic play against a team of blind amputees if it were on the telly.

Looking forward to it, we spend an entire season of football to get the opportunity to play in Europe. This is the highlight of our season not the distraction.

Should be enjoyable action in the stands with Rennes being a Celtic side You usually see a lot of Breton flags at their home games.

You're so * negative, HP without sauce.

It entirely depends on the two line-ups. As I said earlier, it'll be interesting to see what teams take the field. They may select a weakened XI, surely giving us the opportunity to collect the three points. After all, they're in a similar position to us, ie. no hope of qualifying.
