I could be wrong but thought I read McCarthy said he was training by himself before he signed for us. Anyway think McCarthy should get his first start for us on Thursday. Probably can't play the 90 minutes but we have Soro who can come on later.

 

Starfelt played a bit in midfield with Sweden nah seriously would prefer Mccarthy over soro in midfield but I don't know how far away he is from being able to play an hour. But he's a professional footballer, his fitness shouldn't be far off... but also don't want to rush folk back

 

Also, we always seem to be a few weeks away from where we want to be. Be that preparation for qualifiers or players returning from injury

Need at least a bit of pace in midfield so I'd have Soro on over McCarthy just now, and whilst it's not ideal, Juranovic can play slightly further up field.

Only subs I'd use would be one of Taylor/Scales, McCarthy and Giakoumakis for 20 minutes.

Think this game was maybe slightly past us even with a full strength squad, but Betis haven't started the season strongly.

 

With Abada and McGregor out it does leave us thin on the ground and if Ange is sticking to his principles no matter who is in the team then I only see either McCarthy or Soro coming in for McGregor and Montgomery in for Taylor

If it was going to be hard before then it's going to be a lot harder without McGregor. McCarthy doesn't have the legs McGregor has and although Soro has the engine, he isn't as creative. Hopefully our defence stands up to the challenge but it just shows how desperately short our squad is.

Seem to have done no bad away in the Europa in recent years. A draw would be a very good result, even at full strength I would’ve taken that every day of the week. Missing McGregor, Abada, Kyogo and Taylor, 4 guys that defo would’ve started is a bummer but Juranovic or Monty in at LB will probably be better than Taylor anyway. McGregor missing is the main concern but we have a few option in midfield at least.

Go 433 with the wingers Jota and Monty running back to help as much as possible when out of possession.

 

This is why we should have signed McCann, would have provided much needed energy for the midfield..

We are unlucky to have this amount of wingers out..

Maybe we shouldn't start Ralston so he can come on later as our backup striker.

 

Glad to see our * with injuries 10 IAR is still on.

 

Our bench is going to be threadbare , with no real attacking options

 

Can't see us getting anything, team is weak in almost every area of the pitch at this level, that's just the reality of the current squad, gonna take a long time to build a team good enough to go far in Europe again

 

With the injuries we have its going to be a very hard night for us in Seville but we live in hope.
