do you think we are too soft in europe? i think the 2 x Japanese players need to learn a lot about fighting away from home in europe - often get pushed about and never really let the players know they are up for a game.

is kyogo european level ? not just him but in europe we fail with so many chances.

their keeper is out next week should give a boost, any ideas of mc gregor? how do you think the danish lad played?

I think in the first 2 games we've shown that anges style of play can work at that level, but every player has to be at it.

Losing CCV was massive for us, but more than that we were far too open, made bad decisions in the press and, overall, we had too many poor performances from individuals. Got to give credit to leipzig as well, they're a good team.

I'm not getting too worried about it, let's see what happens in the next game and what the players / manager has learnt.

Tbh I'd rather we went for the attacking / high press option rather than the defensive * we saw in Liverpool where rangers didn't lay a glove on them. Although I understand there's a balance between all out attack and being suicidal in our approach, which we were a bit on Wednesday.

I've accepted that Ange won't change his style of play because of the opposition and I'm happy with that.
But I do think he might need to tweak things according to the players we have available.

Also even if we have our first pick team an occasional long ball can catch the opposition out. Teams now know they can press us high up the park when we have possesion as were going to play from the back.

A couple of long balls might lead to opponents leaving the press further back and give us a bit more time to build.

Not quite, we've spent about £43 million, not including loan fees, in last two seasons, Lepizigs record transfer is about £25 million

I think people are overestimating RB Leipzig's financial muscle, their wage bill is closer to ours than Real Madrid's

I don't think anyone is overestimating anything.

Whilst for the most part their spending could be seen as funded by player sales. They regularly spend in excess of £50mill every window...with one season allegedly having a spend of over £90mill.

Nothing about wages is ever going to accurate but I'd hazard a guess and say their wage bill is easily triple to ours.

Regardless though it is obvious our squad a just lacking a little something so far these last few weeks now. The mounting injuries certainly aren't helping either

look at city - played with the false 9 for years.. now they have a 25+ goal scorer and they look a different beast.
having a strong, physical striker who can win aerial threats and get flick ons is always a concern for an opposing team.
personally, i think a draw would be ok tonight but the fear is waiting on real madrid for favours, i really hope we get the first goal tonight and the crowd gets well into the game and see how they react. but take the chances we are creating and stay in the game we always have a chance. hoping sead has a good game if he gets the nod

I have not read the threads as yet.

VAR has a lot to answer in this game.

Giakoumakis should have been awarded a penalty in the 79th minute. This could have turned the game. The foul occurred on the blind side of both the ref and the far linesman.

Giakoumakis was dragged back by Hendricks as GG went forward to head the ball. He pulled back the left wrist of GG with his left hand even up to the point where GG was going down, after getting his head to the ball as best he could.

If I could see it on my screen, then VAR should have done the same.

That should have been a red card and a penalty kick. The ref needs to keep up with the play and not stay in a central position on the field. He needs to cover the area where there is not a linesman on that side of the pitch in that half of the field.

My expectations were not met in this game. We could have won it if we followed the basics of the game in our final third.
