This could be the turning point for Thommo. He was excellent a couple of years ago and hopefully he can start turning in some of those Stuttgart performances again.

Thompson is an excellent player when played in the correct position (Left-side of midfield). Why MON and now GS play him in the middle with Petrov out on the right * only knows. [IMG]

I was at the game and he did take some stick. Again though he was having a poor game until he scored. He clearly attempted to get a point across to the crowd and did "cup his ear" in front of us. I'm a fan of Thomo, and although last season was blighted by injury and bad form. I still think he has the talent and heart to do a job for Celtic. Saying that, he's a big lad and should be able to withstand the criticism, but who amongst us would have reacted any different??

Im a Thommo fan and i know he didnt have pre-season therefore might be lacking edge, but i mean he did have a poor game till he scored yesterday and i can understand why people were annoyed cause its annoying when you know how amazing he can play and how well he can strike a ball. He always tries hard I'll give him that. Just some people around me at Parkhead are too quick to dish out stick instead of supporting when confidence is needed, you can be annoyed you just dont need to be so loud about it.

Have to say I 100% agree with you hear Sparky. I know the players a not above criticism but some of the * that has been leveled at some of the current squad wrong. Interestingly, Thommo didn't go missing on Saturday even though he was playing badly. We need to get behind the Bhoys and not constantly get on their backs. I wonder how many of the 50,000 were there on Saturday when Thommo scored he second. I don't get to many games, basically because I can't afford it so I feel a bit off slagging fellow Tims who do spend their hard earned cash to go regularly. Also the thread on Saturday "who hates Mo camara" or something like that was a disgrace IMO.

if ripping into Thommo made him get his act together and he scored twice what harm's done?

i got to agree (about last games, because i dont know this player from previous seasons)
hes the guy who won possesion in midfield and just after that lost the ball and let the counterattack start
eeveryone gets on camaras back for that goal, but poor guy was just trying to do sth to stop attacker from scoring a goal
sure it ended with penalty, but if he didnt distract that guy so aggresively he would have scored there without penalty i guess

anyway, 1 goal lost which u could partly blame thompson, on the other hand, 2 nice goals later
and even if he performed poor for most of the time, hes the one who brought 3 points to celts

these are probably the same * fans that booed lennon against boavista.
    * off the lot of ye, your not welcome to sit in amongst the real die hard tims. boo to you.

IMO Alan Thompson can be a quality player when he wants to be. Leave the guy alone. And i dont understand people who go to cp just to boo and critisise our players. If your not gonna get 100% behind the WHOLE team then dont go to the game.

Yes Ciaran quite right about Thompson cause he's delivered in big games all the time and deserves some slack but I'm afraid Momo Camara does deserve critisism, he is a heavy liability and could cost us another vital defeat, I just pray Camara doesn't play against The Huns.

im a die hard celtic fan and always have been and get behind the team no matter what but its hard to get behind a player like thompson who through his own admition which a respect him 4 has been * 4 the good part of a year and a half, and has showed no sign of getting any better, because come on falkirk are nothing anywhere near a good side that we should be struggling against ,cos a can remember when teams like barcelona and juve were scared to come to parkhead,so some fans need to get there heads out there own *,and grasp the reality that the core of the team that i have worshiped 4 the last 5 years should have been split up in the summer 4 younger and better blood.

The reality is, as most who were at the game would agree, the support did start a united "whistling" to show their support to Thomo and give the Boo-Boys an earbashing.

a was at the game and a never booed thompson or any other celtic player and a never would boo a celtic player but the player deserves to be critisced as he is not gd enough anymore and he is earning seriously big money every week, and when a player is earning that money he deserves the critisim, when he has not delivering the gds, thats fact, cos it is coming to the point where we should be champions and we should be top of the league and in the champions league but were not bcos gordon strachan relyed on mons core that had let mon down last season which was a bad mistake, bcos any1 that knows anythin about football knows that if u want ure club to progress u need players that are playing on form, not players that were doing it 2 seasons ago but its alrite cos they were doing it then so we can allow them to play * and pick up 20 thousand and up a week, for * sake get a grip.

    Spot on.
Anyone can have a few bad games, but when you're consistently sub-standard you will get critised (however no-one should ever boo their own player). What you did 2 years ago is no good if you're not doing it now. He may have scored a few goals in big games in the past but that is a distant memory. Consistency is required in bread n butter games.

and was it not Thommo who won the last game on 11/03/2004 against Barca? ill answer that, yeh it was. i was at both and u can critisis him, so wat if he accidentily passed 2 larsson, they still would hav won 1-2 if that hadnt happened, anyways a class player, (am allowed 2 think that) can always have a brill game, thommo is on forn the now so leave him alone. * critisise him when he playes well critisise him when hes poor... theres no pleasing some folk. just b happy we won, and another 3 points r in the bag. :celt_2:

am sorry but if u have been watching celtic for the last year and half ,u would relise that thompson has played utter *,fair enough he has scored a couple of important goals, but does that justify all the * perfomances naw it does nae ,or u r just blind.am not one of these fans that moan and groan at games but u have 2 at thompson cos he has been of form for 2 long.and your wrong about thompson scoring the winner the last time we played barca we drew 1-1 and it was hartson that scored so clamped get youtr facts rite

If any of you have ever played this great game (football), then you would know that being abused by your own fans is the worst feeling in the world....all it does is make you lose confidence and you don't want the ball! So enough of this hun like behavior. I call on every celtic fan to get right behind the WHOLE team! 'Cos a confident team are a good team!..........C'mon the hoops

Fair enough Sevi but my only problem is with Camara his very presense unsettles the whole Celtic defence, he was the main culprit against Bratislavia away, if he plays against Rangers(Should be McManus instead) and makes mistakes that cost us Gordon Strachan better get the * out of Celtic Park.
