    Would take him in a heart beat, but he is in that sort of elite level that really we would need to spend more than we ever considered before. We would be deemed as a step down to him as well, can't imagine he will be short on offers to accept what we can offer him.

    Didn’t do well at Newcastle and his team are 2nd bottom in China, is his motivation still there

    Not sure he needs that sort of leg up like Rodgers may have.

    It's the wage that makes it a no go for me - in a realistic world -
    £12mill in China, likes of Newcastle would take him back in a heart beat as well if they get their takeover sorted and would easily pay 8+ for him.
    Rodgers was on £2.5mill a year with us and deemed high end for us, can't see us pushing much beyond £3mill or so.

    Not gonna say I wouldnt want benitez or Howe but one manager who would be cheaper and available is Philip Cocu. Good success at psv, very unlucky at derby, experience with European football playing and managing. History of development of young players (wijnaldum, depay, knight).
